Questions & Answers

If the fan has a light, can this be used?

The fan side of this control is all you can control, so you will need to split the light from the fan side. There are two black wires (hot) and two white wires (neutral) in the circuit for a ceiling fan. In the event that your fan and light are wired in the above manner, you will need to determine which black and white wires are attached to the fan and which It is attached to this control that the fan wiring is connected. Using the remaining black and white wires, you can connect whatever control you want to use. if you fail to do so, plan to run another 14-mile race To control the lights, you have to run 3 wires from the ceiling box to the wall box. In view of this, it is best to do some research about your home wiring and your fan before you start.

It would have been easier if Lutron had made one switch control both fans and lights? One like that is available from hunter, but it does not have control over the home assistant. ?

When your wallbox can be expanded, you may be able to use this control in conjunction with a PD-based system I assume you have two separate switch legs so you can use 6WL to control the fan and the light. We would like to point out In the FSQN Normally, pull chains would control the speeds on this type of ceiling fan. You may also wish to contact the manufacturer of your fans to make sure they are compatible.

Is it possible to use this fan if it only features 3 speeds?

Pull the pull chain to raise the fan to its highest setting. You can then switch between four different speeds by using the switch

In the case of a fan with a light, how does this work? In my current setup, I leave the switch to the on position and use the ?

The light will not be operated by this switch. A separate Caséta dimmer switch or Hue bulbs must be used to make the lights "smart."

Please be aware The majority of popular fan brands do not work with this
3/5

This looks like it would be very misleading if they told you that this won't work with Hunter or Casablanca fans anywhere in the marketing materials. It is no wonder that these two brands are so popular on the market. There is a known limitation with this switch, however it does not appear at all in information found prior to purchase. I'm so glad to have spent my time in this manner.

I liked the fast speeds, but the spacing could have been better
4/5

As I've installed dozens of Lutron switches and dimmers in my current and prior homes, they have proven to be reliable and rock solid. This fan control is expected to follow the same pattern. I had been using a Caseta on/off switch for my fan (and a separate Caseta dimmer for the light) prior to installing this fan control. made it possible to control the fan using Siri (Alexa, Google Home) or setup an automation for the system to turn on and off automatically, and via the wall switch to turn it on and off as needed. This problems is no longer an issue with the Caseta Fan Control From the wall switch, Siri, and so on, I can control not just whether the fan is on or off but its speed as well. I find that to be a big convenience, and as trivial as it sounds, the absence of pull chains improves the aesthetics of my fan. Those levels are low, medium, medium high, and high (in Apple HomeKit, 75, 50, The following areas need to be improved It's extremely slow to move at low. You can make medium high by changing the word high to I'll probably never use Low speed, as it's very, very slow. I'd like to be able to switch between the Medium High and the High speeds. Here are a few things to remember Ensure that you have separate wiring for the fan and the light if your fan has a It is important to note that neutral wiring will be necessary, but this should not be an issue unless your home is older than a decade. This and the Caseta line as a whole are well worth a shot. In the event you want to use your existing Pico remotes with this, you won't be able to. With this fan control, neither the dimmer Pico (5 buttons) nor the on/off Pico (2 buttons) remote control work. If you have a new Fan Control Pico, which I have not yet tested, then you can say things like "Set fan to 25/50/75/100", "Set fan to 25%/50%/75%/100%", It is not working for some reason when "Set fan to high" is selected To use "100%" or "very high", you must use "100%". In this case, 75 or 75% is the only way to set medium high. Approximately in August of You need to first hold down the bottom (off) button on the Fan Control until the left LED on the control begins to blink. Once the LED on the Pico starts blinking, push and hold the bottom button until it stops Once the two are paired, let them sit for a few seconds. Using the app, you will now be able to see the Pico The Pico will be named "Unnamed Pico Remote" and will not be assigned to a particular If you edit its name and assign it to a room, your fan control switch will remain paired with it.

Works only with a light and fan combination
3/5

It would work well with my ceiling fan and light combo in my bedroom. My shock was that it would not work for a fan/light combo and both Lutron and the manufacturers of this fan will not provide a solution. This ceiling fan is by far the most popular ceiling fan sold nowadays. The problem was so big a deal that they made a big show of fixing it. There was nothing they fixed. Then, they came up with a super-size version of the movie This switch is only suitable for a FAN. don't know anyone who owns a ceiling fan without a light attached to This is a complete failure. We will be returning this for a refund and removing the Lutron Caseta switch, replacing it with a switch that works with our ceiling fan/light combination.

The Lutron releases these at last
4/5

I'm very happy to see this. ordered two of the fan switches as soon as I saw their availability because I have about 15 caseta light switches stored throughout my house. It took only a few minutes to set up. expands the number of fan speeds to four - low/medium/med- high It is high/high. Besides working with Alexa, it is easy to set-up. A small criticism is that the favorite preset buttons in the center of the screen seem It's great for light switches since you can set it to anywhere between 1 and 100%, but for a fan switch with only four speed settings, it seems a little out of place. Here is an update after a week of using them The company still has my full faith and trust. My ceiling fan always turns on without fail when I tell Alexa to set it to high. Compared to my traditional fan speed switch, the 4 fan speeds on this switch are a little different. Even though the "low" moves very slowly, a little air is still moved Keep in mind that you must have separate wiring for the fan and for the light, as another reviewer mentioned. You won't be able to do this if you only have one live wire going to your fan/light combination.

I am not very satisfied with the speed selection
3/5

With the launch of a fan speed control by Lutron, we're finally one step closer to having one. In my house, I have several Caséta switches for light dimmers and fan controls, so it was a relief to have an actual fan speed control. Somehow, Lutron has the screws connecting the line wire to the switch box wrapped around or back stabbed, with the rest connecting to the wire nuts in the switch plate. There are three levels of difficulty low, medium, and medium-low There is no better way to describe it than High Rather than Very Low, Very Low, Low, and High, more accurate names would be Very Low, Very Low, and Low. On a scale of 1 to 10, the speeds would probably be described as follows A medium 0 Medium - 1* An outstanding score Rated 5 stars Switch works as well as the speed selections except for the switch. An easy way to integrate into the hub and Amazon's.

It was my thought that I had finally mastered the skill of installing Lutron switches, but these ones leave even less room for wiring than the four wire type -- It'll take a while to get the wires jammed in, so be prepared to fiddle with them a bit
