Questions & Answers

What is the noise level of the fan?

It was a little louder for me - I measured it with a sound (decibel) meter, and it's 2-. The volume has been increased by 3 decibels. br>However, if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, consider It's possible that the increased noise is due to the fact that I cleaned out all of the dust and debris from the housing, and that there is now more air flowing thanks to the new motor and fan!

Is it possible to use this to replace the heater fan motor in a Nutone 605?

Hello, our item does not work with Nutone 605.

What is the best way to separate the fan from the motor shaft? I was able to remove the nuts that secure the motor to the motor bracket, but I am unable to separate them. ?

The fan is simply pushed against the shaft. Work the fan side to side while pulling it; a glove may be helpful. You won't have to worry about the fan breaking because you've got a spare. It will work its way off the shaft if you just keep pulling.

I have an old fan and was hoping to see if this motor would work with it. The dimensions appear to be the same. type fc, e-type motor, says Gould 538- Ventrola Manufacturing Company No. 1 ?

Several of the fan motors come with schematics that include precise measurements. To ensure a successful repair, compare the dimensions of your old fan motor and the size of the fan blade. My Nutone fan was 44 years old, and the repair was simple and effective.

It rotates in the appropriate direction! A 35-year-old fan motor was replaced by this one
5/5

This was the exact same thing. It was simply a matter of moving the mounting bracket from the old to the new. The rotation is one of the most important features of these fans. Mine is a CCW (counter-clockwise) fan, as is this one. However, the majority of them rotate clockwise (clockbr>wise). I discovered this the hard way after purchasing one at Lowes that was turned the wrong way up. If you can get the mounting bolts to loosen up enough, you can reverse the motor armature. I couldn't because they require a hexbr>head bolt, which I couldn't get a good grip on due to the bolt head's lack of depth, which prevented the hex socket from gripping it. The only way I knew it was CCW was because of a picture on Amazon's site of the motor info tag, which said CCW. Otherwise, none of the ones I found online stated which way they turn.

It's simple to set up
5/5

It really works! This was for a 20-minute presentation. a year-old Broan bathroom exhaust fan that took a long time to start up and reach full speed before being repaired br>br>Once the plastic cover was removed, I was able to easily remove the fan assembly (with a lot of dust falling to the floor!) by removing one screw. br>br>Everything was in perfect alignment, and the rotation was in the opposite direction. When looking at the shaft with your back to it, it rotates clockwise. identical to the first (important; otherwise, it will not work). Nothing needed to be changed - It's that simple. Prior to re-reading, Simply press the new blade onto the shaft, ensuring that the flat side of the shaft aligns with the flat side of the blade. br>br>I compared the noise levels of the old and new fans at full speed, and the new one is slightly louder (2. 5dbm), but I think that's due to the fact that there's more air flowing now that I've cleaned everything out. br>br>I've included the dimensions in my drawing so you can double-check that these parts will fit yours before placing an order.

Job completed in ten minutes! There will be no issues
5/5

For a 30 year old motor, this is an excellent replacement. old bathroom exhaust fan, perfect fit, old out, new in, quick and simple! There is no need to remove the fan housing from the ceiling; the motor simply drops and slides out after one screw is removed. The attached wire simply plugs into the fan housing's outlet, and you're done. My old motor had a worn bearing after 30 years, which is to be expected. br>1/01/2021 The motor is still running strong and quiet, but it's a pain to install because one end of the metal frame has two tabs that slide right into the tab holes on the other frame that is mounted to the ceiling. Then there's a screw on the other end of the Replacment motor frame that goes into the ceiling fan frame. There is no need to say anything because the new fan motor comes with a plug already installed, so all you have to do is unplug the old one and plug the new one in. Job duration: 10 minutes.

Make sure the two mount bolts are pointing in the same direction
4/5

When my exhaust fan died, I removed it and compared the model number to this product; when I received the replacement fan, I began to swap them out and discovered that my fan's mount bolts were facing the wrong way. Because the top and bottom bearings aren't interchangeable, I threaded the bold in the opposite direction (which won't hold the bearings on) and used the nuts to hold everything together. Mechanically, it's the same idea, and it's correct. Technically, I made a mistake. Despite the fact that the replacement part numbers are the same, the picture clearly shows the bolt going the wrong way. By taking away a star, I was able to split the difference. br>br>Some of the other reviewers are correct in their assessment that this device is loud. It resembles the fan it replaces in appearance, but the volume is significantly lower. Isn't it likely that you're spinning at a higher RPM? We aren't bothered by it, but it is worth mentioning.

A 32-year-old bathroom fan gets a quick, simple, and low-cost upgrade
5/5

In our downstairs half-bath, we had an old, noisy, and unreliable fan. I needed a replacement fan but didn't have access to the attic, so I came across this solution. I dug out the old fan support bracket (warning: there will be a LOT of dust involved - Goggles must be worn. ) and found out that Broan 688- H/663- It had the letter H imprinted on it. I couldn't get the old fan off the motor shaft after removing the mounting bolts and nuts, but when I applied some real force, the old, brittle fan broke, allowing easier access to the motor shaft and the fan to pull away. This item was ordered after I cleaned up the fan support bracket. It arrived in under 24 hours. br>br>However, when I went to install the new fan and motor on the bracket, I discovered that the new bearing supports were "backwards. " The "lugs" for the bolts on the bearing support are on the side opposite the fan, as you can see in the photo. The lugs on the fan side of the old one were designed to fit into the holes in the motor bracket. The lugs fit into the motor bracket correctly after I removed the bolts, reversed the bearing supports, and reinstalled them. Everything fit perfectly, the fan cleared perfectly, and I pushed the bracket back into the fan housing, plugged it in, turned on the fan, and it worked perfectly! The Broan/NuTone 0 is not as quiet as the Broan/NuTone 0. I installed a three-speed fan in the master bath, which is much faster and more reliable than the old one.

Upgrading to a more capable device is a good idea
3/5

They appear to be identical, but the mounting bracket is inverted. Because you can't reverse the mount, I went back and bought a new fan with a CFM of 70. On Amazon, I found one with a 3 inch exhaust port for only $11 more than a motor and fan separately. The number 7 is my opening. 00x7. The new one starts at 7 p. m. , with the old one starting at 25 p 5x7. Only minor cutting of the Sheetrock opening will be required for 25. Aubrey Mfg was the manufacturer of my old vent fan. Although parts are readily available, the motor and fan must be purchased separately. Just better to get a new unit and get the advantage of 40% increase in CFM as well as 50% reduction in noise level as well as 50% reduction in noise level as The number of tones has been cut in half, from four to two. Update: Without access from above, the new replacement was difficult to set up. For TechDrive model TD-100, I needed to do some carpentry and drill new mounting holes. The fan, on the other hand, is extremely quiet and performs admirably.
