Simply unplug the appliance from the built-in outlet. It could be a sheet metal screw that needs to be removed. Pull that end down; there are tabs on the opposite end. Remove the old motor and replace it in the opposite order. If the can is still functional, there is no need to replace it.
If you purchase the C350BN model as a replacement, Both the motor and the plate are included. The old plate/motor assembly in the ductwork portion of my old unit was held in place by one or two screws. Remove the screw(s) in question. Because they plastered the ceiling slightly over the plate, I still had trouble getting it out. To get the plaster to fall out of the ceiling, I had to break it away.
This replacement was installed by me about ten years ago. I recall having a NuTone 695, but I'm not sure what cfm it was. Despite being noisy, the unit has performed admirably over the years.

"This is only for the 696N A," "The cord is two millimeters too thick," "I have a 1. It came with a 1. 25-inch post. "It's the wrong color silver," "I had to gnaw off the extra to make it work,"br>br>I don't think I've ever had this much stress just finding a replacement for a fan that hasn't changed since it was installed here in 1985. " I have 696N B, and you'd think I was looking for a sasquatch prom gown, because this thing didn't seem to exist. Finally, I decided to stop reading reviews and put my faith in measurements, hoping that the image was correct and the "696N B" on the sticker was correct. It's a success. br>br> It fits. Everything is in order. If you have a 696N B, this is the one to get. br>br>At the same time, some people are complaining about the noise. new br> a) Anything is quieter than my old fan, which sounded like the SFX reel for Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. new br> b) Are you really interested in hearing what's going on in the ladies' room? Do you consider yourself to be a strange fettishist? I'm not sure what other people want, but I'd like a silence cone above the toilet. br>br>In any case, the noise is tolerable. It appears to be a supporter. This isn't a ninja who spins around. All things that spin quickly and move air, it appears to be. .
As advertised, this is not a replacement for the 696N and 695 housing. The new plate on the right has the tabs in the wrong place, the plate is too big, and the plug cutout for the 110 outlet is also in the wrong place. I took out the fan motor and simply installed it on the old plate on the left side, which turned into a 20-minute job. Unbolting and replacing fans and motors took 25 minutes. There is no need to return, but there will be more work than what was advertised as a replacement.
My old bathroom fans (circa 1994) had failed and I needed to replace them. I attempted to use a retrofit from a large home improvement store, but they were too large. br>I found these on Amazon and they are exactly what I was looking for. Here are a few points to consider:
1: Keep an eye out for the small screw that holds the fan in place. It does not come with one (as shown in the photo).
2: It also does not include a grille. I bought new grilles from the same Home Improvement store for nearly double the price. If you need to replace them, go here to get them: Broan C350GN Grille for NuTone 695 and 696N Ventilation Fans is rated at four stars on Amazon. 0 decibels, which is a little loud in my opinion, but it's better than nothing.
I had to get rid of my NuTone C- This unit was a perfect replacement for the 350C2 (B unit).
I bought this to replace a Mercury NuTone bathroom fan that had been in my house for 20 years - 'C350C2-' is a number that can be used to identify a B unit'br>I took the measurements that several reviewers recommended to ensure that this new unit would fit. and my measurements were ideal, with plenty of wiggle room- that's what I assumed My son and I went to remove the old Nutone fan, unplugged it, and then maneuvered the new Nutone fan into place. We had to get creative with pliers to get it into the slot, and we had to bend the frame slightly to get it in. Finally, I was able to plug it in (the slot has its own power outlet) and it worked! I waited a few days to post this review because I wanted the kids to see if there was any shower fog in the bathroom, and there wasn't! It's perfect! No foggy shower, no fight mirror, and all for a fraction of the price of popular home stores.
Note- Because the new fan does not come with a screw to hold it in place, save your old screw(s). If the fit is tight, it may not be necessary. Lastly, as everyone else has reported, this new fan is louder than the previous one. br>It does not come with a "fan cover" that hides the fan and motor, so use your old one or order one online. br>Lastly, as everyone else has reported, this new fan is louder than the previous one. That's fine with me; it's better than having a foggy, damp bathroom with no ventilation.
Finally. This 100% matches the one I had 696- NDB. The socket plug is located on the side, which is exactly what I needed. Easy to replace by wedgeing the old one out with a flathead screwdriver. To make it fit better, I had to bend the side flanges in a bit. This size with the plug in the right place is not available at Home Depot or Lowes. More were ordered to replace those who had died after 20 years.
Our old C350C2 B fan unit, which was 20 years old, was easily replaced by this unit. The tabs were a tad thinner from side to side than the original, but this likely allowed it to replace a wider range of fan unit models. Here's my take on the noise level: br>br> Yes, it is louder than the old unit, but I believe that the old one was insulated by the lint that had accumulated over the decades. We cleaned the outside of the fan and the grates in between, but we never cleaned beyond that, so there was a LOT of lint inside. Now that we're aware, we'll make it a point to clean the inside more frequently. I like the replacement fan and, based on our theory, I'll accept the noise level.
If you're one of the tens of thousands of homeowners who had Broan (NuTone) bathroom fans installed when your house was built, this is a simple replacement. I didn't have to drill any holes or make any modifications; all I had to do was unscrew one sheet metal screw - as well as the preliminary The new motor unit's drilled hole matched the existing hole perfectly. The fact that this unit sounds even louder than the original is why I only gave it four stars. Some people may prefer the loud sound to mask other noises in the bathroom; however, I'd prefer a quieter fan and am unwilling to spend a lot more money and make modifications to my ceiling and/or ductwork to get one.
