Questions & Answers
It does not matter whether the HOM230GFI or HOM230GFIC is stamped "C", the "C" is embedded in the package to better display it
There is no arc fault protection. It has GFCI protection instead
I'm sorry, no. The HOM230GFIC only works with load centers of the HOM type. I would like to thank Schneider Electric Customer Care for their assistance.
That will be the case

To be sure it was the load, I pulled the load wires from the breaker, and the arcing caused it not to energize. I replaced it with another I had, and everything works as it should now. Warranty doesn't go through Amazon, and apparently it will be difficult In order to return the old unit to you, I should go through "a local distributor" (who says this can take a week, just for the shipping tag to arrive), which will give me a return tag. After I receive SE's product, it is tested for flaws, and if found to be defective, it sends one back or sends me a replacement. I estimate that it will take at least a month. A spare would have been of no use if I didn't have one on hand.
Installation is straightforward if nothing is in the way, but older switch boxes can have grounding bars that get in the way, so you may need to move them in order to install this oversized breaker.
In the end, this was a very poor purchase for all that money. Square D was regarded as the best quality by my electrician. Originally posted on March 25, 2011. A tie bar was missing from the handles in order for them to be connected. Considering that the breaker appears to have been factory sealed, this seems strange. There is a possibility that it was tampered with. It is unclear whether this is a feedback from a product or a seller. As it is, I cannot seem to locate a source for this little component, so it is a bit of a pain.
QO provides a homeline single pole 30 amp GFCI CB. I wish Sq D did the same for the homeline. Using one pole for shore power is no problem, and I had no issues installing the panel. For a simple power supply, this is a costly way.
It was the first one that was faulty, so it was replaced. Two months into this one, it seems to still be holding its own.
The breakers failed after only 5 months and needed to be replaced after constantly tripping. Hopefully my hot tub heater will not suffer the same issues now that it's been replaced by a Siemens. This is a big deal since it operates the hot tub heater. A very disappointing experience!.
A device that uses water to cool down electric elements would not be complete without one, according to our electrician. In any case. As compared to the regular breakers with no protection, yes they are expensive. Although it works like a dream and provides us with peace of mind, it's not cheap.
They concluded that the breaker was defective as received. I have no return option left.
It was necessary on the same circuit to go from a 50 to a 30. Installation was straight forward, and the software worked flawlessly.
