In order for this to work, it must be on the same side of the panel as the neutral bus as the neutral wire is very short. During testing, the test button is raised such that it is pressed by the panel door catch assembly. After I figured out it only tripped when the door was closed, I finally figured out why it kept tripping. Make sure you plan your panel layout before you buy it.
In most cases, I hardwire my pool pumps and install them at 240V.
