The UBIZ1515 replacement breaker meets all of my expectations. My barn's breaker panel uses Zinsco style breakers, which have a bad reputation for breaking down, and replacements are difficult to come by. Having a modern replacement instead of relying on refurbished breakers gives you a sense of security. Despite some You-know-what, replacement was simple. Breaker-related videos on YouTube may not be applicable to your breaker box. The breaker is a little bigger than the original, and the hot wire receiver is a little different as well. Because of the size difference, it may be necessary to adjust the hot wire length to fit the size and configuration. Getting the hot wires into their receiver is a little tricky, but not too difficult.
Zinsco breakers will easily fit into a 1954 circuit breaker box! Make sure you're getting the DOUBLE 15-amp breaker, not the single 15-amp breaker! CAUTION! br>br> Neither the ON nor the OFF position is available with these breakers. Before they'll work properly, you'll have to turn them on and off multiple times. Especially the breakers with two poles. The first switch on one side worked fine, but the other side required three more on/off switches to work!.
All of the Zinsco breakers in the load center have been replaced with these, which appear to be a much better design than the originals or earlier aftermarket breakers of the time. There is no need to redo the entire box and its wiring because all of the interior parts are available. Even the buss bars are open for business. This is a fantastic result.
What I didn't like about it was that it wasn't packaged and was instead loose. However, before tilting the old one off and tilting the new one on, make sure that all power is turned off, including the main switch. 2 minutes and you're done The value can't be beat, and I looked for a good company with a great product.
I've purchased a few original manufacturer breakers for my panel so far. And this is far superior to the quality and fit of the breakers that came with my archaic panel, and it eliminates the risk of arcing that I experienced with the manufacturer breakers. I'll be buying more as time goes on!.
It . It worked as expected and was easy to put together. It's replacing the exact same type that the previous installer installed but didn't tighten the wire clamp down tight enough, causing it to heat up and eventually fail. The new one's threads were a little tighter than usual, so I had to crank a little harder than usual to get everything locked down. Make sure these are properly tightened, as the tightness of the screws in the first place can be deceiving. I wouldn't buy these again right now because Zinsco is so expensive for what they are.
The first one went off without a hitch, as expected. This was not the item I had requested. It also had a broken casing, corroded contacts, and a wire that had been severed but was still connected. It's as if it was rescued from the garbage. Really?.
I was given the task of locating new circuit breakers by the contractor. This was a good fit for the situation.
