The installation is easy and the product is heavy duty. An adequate number of labels should be placed on the installation to clearly identify it. The original model was made by me, but I wisely decided to buy this one after careful reflection. As an item so unique, I can understand why it costs so much.

It seems expensive, but with the drill bit, locktite, stickers for everything and a quality sliding mechanism that prevents anyone from accidentally back feeding the utility line and possibly causing death or injury to the very lineman trying to restore Buying a home is a stressful experience, and an inspector who finds some dangerous rigging will cause you a great deal of trouble. It's totally worth it to get it right. Make sure the lower tab of your slide does not touch the next breaker slot in order to dry fit it to the breaker. In this case, you might have a too long lock if you placed the lock squarely in the right angle of your vertical main. After installing it according to the directions, I cut 1/4" off of it. However, this was on a Square D panel from 1972.

The cost is costly, but it is worth it

It is a quality piece that I won't be able to find anywhere else near my older Square D box, so please stop complaining about the price. It installs quickly and is very easy to use. That peace of mind knowing I threw in my generator hookup correctly and legally was worth it.

According to my electrician, I purchased this item. My electrician's company is 30% less expensive than Amazon. Although the price seems steep, I agree with a previous reviewer. In terms of the price compared to the cost of a separate transfer switch, this is a bargain According to the code, it is valid. It is made of solid materials & designed to last I am able to use it with my 30 year old box without any problems.

I find it to be a bit pricey, but it does what it is supposed to do and is easy to set up. Electricity is something I value more than taking any chances with my hard earned money! I recommend it.
