It is true. The 4 inch will fit in it. This is the pipe for the dryer.
The vent is exactly like the picture it is brown.
You won't have to worry about them freezing. They would defrost quickly if they did when a dryer is going when there is heat from the vent. There have been no issues. It was 12 degrees this morning, so nothing has been out of the ordinary.

As a replacement for an older unit that was falling apart, this match was exactly what I was searching for. It was well made and matched my house's color. Despite being pushed into place on the older house, this unit held up very well to the effort of getting it into place.
In 2015 I needed a new dryer vent since my original aluminum vent was damaged after 15 years and I wanted something to blend in with my brown home and be easy to find if it was stuck open. I really like this solution. Installation of the multi louvered vent is quick and simple, and you can easily see that it is functioning and closing completely.
Due to the limited choices of brown vent covers available, I would rate it as being of average quality = it met my needs.
Install was average, but it depends on where the vent was originally installed. Even though some of the materials flexed more than I anticipated, this unit has stood up well to how our harsh winter was. There is no difficulty in opening and closing these louvers.
They are nice products. My only wish is that they had a little larger hole since drill bits tend to wander and if you are a little off you will have to take a louver out and grind it a little so it won't bind and you can open it. I will buy two more in the next few years since these are on the south side of my house and they will heal the "off center" anchor hole.
The product that dry rotted after 10 years was replaced perfectly by this one. According to the description on Amazon, this item was supposed to be white, but it is brown as desired.

It was used to replace a similar one that was running through an outside brick wall to exhaust air from a bathroom. In the older one, the louvers are missing but it is of the same size. In my opinion, the new vent is sturdy and should last a long time.
