During the past several years, the nails are coming loose from our fascia due to the drying and aging of the wood. The gutters around our home were falling off. It only took a few minutes to figure out how many gutter screws I would need, so I ordered them It took them a couple of days to get there. I was able to use the existing holes so I was able to use the gutter screws that are slightly larger than the ones originally found in the gutters and fascia boards. A total of 20 gutter nails had to be replaced. It only took an hour to complete the job. Having an assistant who holds up the gutter while you screw it in is very useful. I'm not worried about the screws falling out, because the threads on the screws are deep, and the screws should last a long time. The nails are a bit more expensive than the original ones, but were perfect for this repair.
It's possible they are a little large so that they easily find traction in our It is very easy to hold on to them. One problem I had was with the square drive holes rounding out when I had to twist them a lot in order to screw them in the sometimes crooked holes. Harder wood used on end caps/rafter ends and the fascia and substructure on some lookouts Embryonic membrane. It was rare for there to be a rounding out. The square bit that fit tightly into the gutter spike square was the result of trying different types - It has been hard to find a bit that fits as tightly as I would have liked. Hence, I made sure I was at the right height and applying pressure straight up and down the center of the A vice-grip pliers on the head of these helped me twist them so they would tightly fit. As I see it, the best solution would be for manufacturers to switch over to star drive from square drives. But overall, these worked well for me and tightened my 4' gutters up nice and tight My goal is to replace all my spikes by these screws this spring. I've purchased more of these and have them ready. I have had three sets of gutters on my house over 60 years. The ice and snow pull on the gutters during the winter, and the spikes, due to holes being driven into the roof, are not powerful enough to hold them in place. Fortunately, I have found a solution to that problem in these gutter screws.
These fasteners impressed me with how stiff they were. With a spacing sleeve, and wide enough threads to anchor into old style aluminum nails, these nails can be used to replace the old style nails there. Initial check indicated that the old nail holes were too small to accommodate the bolt, but if you screw the bolt through the gutter hole a little, place the placer sleeve, then guide the bolt into the roof edge, you get an extremely snug and You are not going to be pulled out by it.
Despite its high price, it is worth every penny due to its quality and ease of installation. Installation was very quick and easy just make sure you do not lose the supplied screw bit or have an extra on hand. Many of the spikes in my gutters were stripped and after a heavy snowfall, they were very rusted. A pair of these screws easily took care of the problem and secured it firmly. The fact that I couldn't find anything like this at a big box store surprised me. Thanks to Amazon once again, we were able to purchase our items. This is a great product, so don't hesitate to purchase it.
It solved my My repair would have been more costly if these things were not there. During heavy rains, a waterfall would form between the house and the gutter on a 15ft stretch of gutter along the front of my home, caused by a damaged gutter spike on the front of the house. The spikes would not function properly if replaced with new ones. With threads, these screws are able to grip better to stop them from slipping back out since they are a little larger in diameter than spikes. Having spent $20 and spending 30 minutes on my problem, I now have a solution!.
Besides not holding them tight to the house, the old aluminum gutter spikes were no longer holding my gutters at all. Pounding them back in did no good either. There is no need to drill new holes with these as they screw into the existing The gutter problem was fixed in about 30 minutes by replacing all the 10 windows. In the old days, it didn't appear that the gutters were this tight to the house.
There is no need to worry about extra costs if you don't have to. Everything seemed to work fine. An extremely helpful DIY tool, especially if you are replacing fascia behind gutters. alone and didn't want to take the time to deal with pull old spikes from the gutter, and I didn't want to dent it if I did. Therefore, I just worked with heavy-duty materials Cut the old spikes with heavy duty bolt cutters at the front edge of the gutter, but left most of them in place so they could hold up the gutter until I could snip them all off. It took me only a few minutes to lower the gutter myself using rope and a few After I had grabbed the spike pieces with vise grips and a claw hammer, I yanked them. The installation of these screws went very quickly after I had replaced the fascia. As a result of their own actions Through the PVC fascia that I used to replace the wood, I was able to tap easily.
I had a gutter that was sagging and old. There was no way for the nails to grip on any longer since they had come loose. A little larger in diameter and slightly longer than standard gutter nails, these nails are perfect for installing gutters. My gutters were repaired without creating new holes because they weren't damaged. I was very pleased with the result!.
