Why wouldn't these work on a small front porch? My subfloor is made of wood. This is exactly what I'm looking for for my outside project. ?

There's no reason they couldn't be used on a porch, in my opinion. I'm not a contractor, but I'd put down durarock for your subfloor to give it more support and prevent it from cracking.
