Based on the assembly diagram for the Liftmaster 3850 and the similarity of the parts that are in it to what I have (the Craftsman openers are the ones I own), I would say it will fit that door opener.

Replace the closed end of a 15+ year old Craftsman opener with this part
5/5

A few years ago, I replaced one of my original Craftsman models with a new one In 2008, there was no Internet. Original worked flawlessly until a few weeks ago, when the chain ceased to move although the motor continued working perfectly The drive gear has been stripped. My experience leads me to believe that this is a very common occurrence. I did it for the first time, it took me about 45 minutes and taking out the plugs was a little tricky. *Be careful when pulling the plugs on the opener before you open it up and stick Be careful around the large capacitor and keep your hands away from it. If you are new to this job, as I was, there are two parts that can be tricky It is necessary to remove the screws holding the shaft assembly in place so you can lift it out of the mounting bracket. The wrench was a little difficult to reach into the hole because there was very little clearance. To free the gear from the shaft, you need to remove the pin that holds it on it. - I clamped the shaft in a padded wooden vise and placed the gear and pin on my bench I'm sure to drop it on the floor if I don't catch the pin. By tapping the pin a dozen times with a hammer, the pin was knocked out without distorting it, making getting it back in flush difficult. After putting it back in, it wasn't hard to do. br>I also bought a tube of lithium grease to apply to the teeth of the gears Replacement as well as the worm gear, small universal, and a few other parts which didn't need to be replaced. I sealed the unit up, so I am ready to use it.

This two-pack is available in a variety of colors This is the drive gear for the Sears Craftsman Liftmaster Chamberlain garage door opener
4/5

It doesn't come with instructions, just The only item that needs replacing is one. Ensure the opener is unplugged before you begin to Observe the mechanism of the opener by removing the outer cover [a few sheet metal screws]. At the very bottom end of the shaft, just below another gear, there is a small plastic pin that holds the large drive gear in place. In addition, there is a cover on top with three screws that hold the gear assembly in place. You can save yourself hours of frustration if you do these a few things Remove the old gear by punching a hole in the roll pin and hammering it out. 4) Lubricate all the teeth of the new gear and the gear it engages, then install it on the shaft and drive the roll pin back in. Line up the screw holes on the gear mechanism, and replace the gear mechanism. Five) Replace the screws with new ones, and replace the the opener unit back in again. "7) Test the operation of the unit.

It is a better alternative than buying a new garage door opener
5/5

A few days ago, I had been about to purchase a new garage door opener when I pulled off its cover and found a white powdery coating Wear and tear had worn out the old gear. Once the grease dries up, it appears that the gear starts to wear out. Even though the screw gear was still good, the main drive gear was toast. Some say it takes 1 hour to change it, but I would consider giving yourself somewhere around 2 hours. There are a few things to do that take a while. All in all, it was worth changing It has been about 30 cycles since I bought it. I am happy with the results so far. Essentially, I don't see any reason for it to fail in the near future. As far as the construction is concerned, this gear looks very similar to the original. A nylon that is white in color. You can find plenty of instructions on how to replace this gear on YouTube.

The original (now broken) drive gear is replaced directly by the new one
5/5

I obtained these gears from my garage door opener, and they are just as good as the originals. Despite this, the ease of installation only gets a 2 out of 5 because it takes an afternoon to complete, but you need to remove most of the opener to get to the replacement gear, and that is the opener's fault, not the replacement gear's. The instructions that came with them were actually quite decent, so that was nice. An opener with 3/4 HP has been installed on a double-door The garage door has a wide opening I suppose I can call it a success that the original gear broke after 11 1/2 years. Although they are made of nylon (original and replacement), I was skeptical it would stand up to stress, but the replacement has been there for about five weeks and is still functioning. My hope is it will last for at least 11 more years!.

Installed a new garage door opener with $400 to spare and saved me $300 in the process
5/5

It was precisely what I needed to salvage my garage door opener from the scrap heap. Originally I was going to buy a new one for $300, but I checked inside my old one and it was all fine except for this gear, so I gave it a try and it has worked for a month without any problems. The photo shows a pair of stripped old gear being extracted and a pair of nearly perfect new gear being put I didn't do it before, so it took over an hour to swap, but mostly because I had never It had to be pried out with a proper punch and vise due to the drift pin that held it in place. All in all, it's very straightforward. *Bonus This one came with a spare, so when it wears out in 15 years, it will still work.

It's okay, but there is a better one A garage door opener had stopped working, and after investigating, I discovered that I could fix it myself, provided I bought the right gear
3/5

It took about one hour to complete the process. We disassembled and reassembled it in 5 hours. It wasn't difficult, just time consuming. It was the hardest part to knock out the pin that holds the gear to the shaft (I used a nail that fits After installation, I found another gear that was already mounted to the shaft. It also had the lubricant on top that the chain runs in. I gave it a low score because after installation, I found another gear already mounted on the shaft. Compared to what we had, it was not a lot more expensive and would be much easier I don't want to insult this product, it is a fantastic product, but there is a much faster and easier solution that is faster and easier. The letter P. * If you're buying lithium grease with this, be sure to lubricate the gears and the track as well. Since lithium is better on plastic parts, it will not dry out on the track as typical grease does.

Ensure that you have a sufficient amount of white lithium grease
5/5

Installed on an old craftsman door opener to replace it. Usually fit well, but the first one I lost the white lithium grease on after I sprayed It seems to be working well now after I installed the second one and applied the white lithium grease liberally. I had no problems installing it. There is a video on the internet that shows how to remove the pin To do that, I used a vice, which made it A single pin needs to be removed to allow the old gear to be removed and the new one to be installed.
