As far as I can tell, it's just some sort of synthetic. Perhaps just nylon is the answer. Very powerful. A full-size diesel truck was pulled from the snow, buried to the axles.
No, I do not believe so. Make contact with the manufacturer.

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT WASTE MONEY! A five-inch section an inch below the knot is too ridged (due to glue) to bend, allowing these to maintain their D shape. I tried feeding the end through a factor 55 flat link and the ends of a tree savor strap and was unable to get the loop back over the knot due to the shackle's lack of flexibility/length/slack.
I finally got to use it a couple of days ago, and it was fantastic. I attached it to the tow hook of a 3/4-ton pickup that was snowed in up to the frame. With my midsize farm tractor and a kinetic recovery rope, I was able to easily pop that truck out. The shackle appears to be well-made and has withstood the test of time.
These shackles give me a positive first impression, but only time will tell. I'm thinking of using a high-lift jack to put them to the test. I can't say for sure how long they'll last or even whether they'll work, but they appear to be well-made and should suffice. The sleeve will protect the shackles from cuts and abrasion. Once I've used or tested them, I'll post an update.
So I purchased these with the expectation that they would suffice. Today, as I was wheeling up Dog Valley Road in Reno with my family, we came across four vehicles that were completely engulfed in snow. With these soft shackles, I used my 9500LBS winch and straps, and they worked perfectly! They've already been stretched, which is fantastic. I'm going to go out and buy another set just in case.
With my 3/4 ton and kinetic pull strap, I was able to pull a 3/4 ton diesel buried past the axles in snow. Shackles served their purpose admirably.
I haven't used them yet, but they appear to be well constructed.
In the event of a catastrophic failure, this system is far safer than traditional steel shackles.
It arrived six days earlier than expected. They were much larger than I had anticipated. Extremely long lasting.
