Questions & Answers

Has this been tried in an attic before?

We put this in our attic two years ago, and we live in Texas. Because it is always hot here, most homes have a radiant barrier installed to keep the heat out. In February, we moved into a two-story home with no basement. A heat gun read 117 degrees on the roof, but 81 degrees in the corner of the house where it had been installed the night before. That was a huge win for us. We blew in r 24 (I believe) more than 12" thick on the attic floor after two weeks of covering every inch of our attic ceiling. We had recouped all of the money we had spent on supplies in less than a calendar year. Our air conditioning costs were twice as much as everyone else's. They are now on the same level as or even lower than our friends and neighbors. We were overjoyed when we found this item on the internet and decided to purchase it. It's a lot less expensive than going to one of those big box home improvement stores. We also used it to line the garage door and to cover the tops of coolers in the back of the minivan to keep direct sunlight off the coolers and prevent ice from melting too quickly in our lovely heat. I hope this information is useful to you.

What is the product's thickness?

The finished product is about a quarter of an inch thick. I was blown away by how much of a difference it made in my garage's temperature and how simple it was to set up. My electric bill has decreased by 30%.

Is this a Staple Tab Edge setup or a Standard Edge setup?

The edge is standard. You'll require two-fold-sided tape. tape that is double-sided However, as JoAnn mentioned, the edges of a wood door could probably be stapled. If you want to do that, I recommend using tape to reinforce them first.

How well does this product conduct heat?

We put this product through its paces in the workplace by comparing it to R- baselines, and discovered that it had an R-value of 0. When used on the floor, it has a value of 2, and when used on the wall, it has a value of 6. This isn't a super-sized version of the original. insulating in an 'open-plan' environment Applications for 'void' insulation It DOES, however, function as a good vapor barrier (since the outside appears to be aluminized polyester, aka "space blanket" material). Being a part of the water However, using proof as a barrier can cause condensation. Depending on your application, mold may be a factor to consider. It will prevent breezes and air-conditioning from entering the building. It will insulate mildly if there are leaks, and it works well as a radiative heat barrier (blocking sunlight, infrared to a point, and so on). If you simply want 'insulation,' fiberglass, styrofoam plate, glass batting, and other similar materials are far superior; however, if you want a'slightly insulating trash bag' effect (covering a window, for example), it is better than nothing.

Excellent for use in an RV
5/5

We just bought a new fifth wheel (2018 model) a few months ago. Something would go wrong with it every time we took it out. We were getting ready to hit the road with the 5th wheel a few weeks ago, and the forecast called for scorching temperatures (it actually hit 116°). I wasn't about to take the chance of the a/c overworking itself and breaking down (so far, we've had to replace the furnace, power cord, and just this week, the double fridge, so you can see why I was skeptical about the a/c? ) I ordered this product, which I was able to cut to fit each window, and instead of using tape, I pulled the shade down over the bubble pack insulation to keep it in place. Sure, the 5th wheel was dark, but I'd rather be in the dark than be without air conditioning. With the insulated bubble pack reflecting the heat, the inside of the 5th wheel remained noticeably cooler. This is a product that I would recommend.

So far, everything is running smoothly
5/5

So far, everything is running smoothly. Here in North Carolina, it hasn't gotten particularly warm yet. I left one square open to see how hot it was, but I've already seen 20-degree temperatures. The true test will be in a month or so, when we will see if the room above our garage stays cooler than normal on days around 80 degrees outside. Another advantage is that the garage is brighter as a result of the reflection. I had recently purchased a couple of LED garage lights, which had already proven to be beneficial, but now they are even brighter in a positive way. br>br>This review has been updated. It was easier to cool down the room above our garage. We have an ecobee in that room, and despite the fact that it has been hotter, I've noticed it running less. I'm glad I went ahead and purchased it. br>br>If this review is helpful, I would be grateful if you liked it. I try to write reviews to help others because I rely on reviews for a lot of my purchases.

The Heat is Beaten by an Insulated Garage Door! I used this product to insulate our 16x8' garage door (west facing, dark gray color) and immediately noticed a reduction in garage temperature

br> To complete the job, we needed about 10 more feet of product.

There are numerous applications for this product
5/5

This was purchased to help insulate the interior of my pop-up camper bunks. It was a success! I intended to cut the insulation to fit between the canvas and screens of the bunks' windows, but instead I cut one piece and unrolled it to fit the entire interior of the bunks. We were very comfortable despite the fact that it was 30 degrees outside and we only had a small heater on. I also had enough to cut for extra insulation under the bedding, so I never felt like I was sleeping in a cold camper. I also noticed that if you cut to fit and place the piece between the canvas and screens, the reflective coating helps to keep the camper from becoming too hot; I'll give it a try in the summer.

The Difference in Temperature is AMAZING! I bought several rolls of this product and hung it from ceiling to floor to create a living space in the garage
5/5

In order to keep heat out in the summer, I insulated the metal garage doors. During the colder months, we'll be staying in. The summer temperatures have been reduced by 10 to 15 degrees. I'm looking forward to seeing how well it keeps the cold out this winter.

Excellent value for money
5/5

In the scorching heat of Arizona, this stuff lowered the temperature of my room by 15 degrees. Large roll for a low price, and the room cools down much faster.

If you have a RV or a house, you will need this
5/5

Thermal insulation and UV protection are both excellent. For the first time, Amazon sent one roll with a crushed dent. Thank you Amazon for a no-hassle exchange - it wasn't the packaging or shipping that was the issue; the box was fine. Your policy is the gold standard in this industry!br>br>Excellent product, highly recommended! I used shears to cut this and fitted it to the windows of my RV, and it immediately kept the cold out. While working in my RV late at night, I noticed a difference in ten minutes. Wow! Insulation is a hot topic these days. If the window does not open in an RV window, cut it to fit inside the frame because there is a hollow section it can tuck into. To fit the curved edges of the window, you'll need to trim the corners. When not in use, simply tuck in and pull out. br>br>For windows that slide open, cut to fit the outside of the window, so make it 1-inch larger. If you cut to window size, you'll have to use velcro on the edges of the window glass to keep them in place. If you're cutting to the outside, use velcro to attach this to the walls. br>br>Can be used with curtains or blinds. It is simple to get rid of. Insulation is required right away. For stealthy boondocking, good blackout curtains are a must. Heat, cold, and UV rays are all reduced. Because it does not allow for good air circulation through windows, this is not the best blackout system for hot summer nights when you want to keep your windows open. br>br>However, buy the big roll and use the leftover pieces to insulate RV doors, windows, and other areas. It's good thermal insulation, but not for noise blocking because it's not dense enough. In the winter, it's also a great way to keep the cold out of the house windows, and in the summer, it's a great way to keep the heat out of the I'm thinking about putting some on top of the air conditioner on the roof to protect it from the sun. Highly recommended for use at home and in RVs around the world. Sew some cloth edging around the outside of the panel to 'hem' it if you want to make it look nice.

2 car garage door insulation put to the test in the desert of Southern California
5/5

18'x8' 2 car garage door insulated in under 2 hours by a handy woman lol piece of cake, measure twice, cut once Tip: Because each door panel is different in size, make sure you measure all of them before cutting. It's holding up without insulation tape for now, but I'll use it if necessary. For best results, they are pressed up against the door (no air flow), so we'll see if this lowers the temperature in the SoCal desert, which is currently 120 degrees Fahrenheit outside and 120 degrees Fahrenheit inside. In the summer, it's 145 degrees Fahrenheit in the garage (facing east). Let's see how this works for now. Walls are insulated, and the roof is coated in white. br>I needed two rolls to cover a two-car garage door, with enough on the second roll to spare.
