It's made of a thick fleece material. Mine has yet to be washed. So far, I've only taken it out and shaken out the dust; I use a bag in my shop vac to catch the majority of the dust, but this filter is extra insurance in case the bag gets a hole in it (which happens occasionally when I vacuum wet stuff). When this occurs, the filter performs admirably. I'd say it's perfect if it fit better, but it's a little too big for my 16G shopvac as it is.
Yes, but it'd be a significant undertaking. On my 16G shopvac, I have one with a filter that is way too big, but it works - It's preferable to be undersized.
It'll fit, though it'll be a little on the tall side - The total height is around 8 inches. I rolled the open end of my 18 volt Ryobi vac up like I used to do with my jeans' legs when I was a kid. It performs admirably without taking up excessive tank space.
It'll most likely happen. My 2 1/2 gallon shop vacuum has an elastic top that fits over the filter.

For my Craftsman 8 gallon shop vacs, which use the 17816 Craftsman filter, I needed a filter bag. These bags, unfortunately, will not fit - The space is insufficient. It turns out that the dimensions listed on Amazon are for the bag when it is lying flat. This can be deceiving because the flattened dimensions aren't what you need to know if the bag fits the filter. These DO fit the Dewalt DC500 portable vacuum's smallish filter - It was the perfect fit. I still haven't found a bag for the Craftsman units that are larger. Please let us know if you know of one.
Because of its size, the P3240 shop vac is a good choice. Its convenience is offset by the fact that it employs a pleated filter that is difficult to clean [if at all possible]. Replacements must be ordered in advance from HDepot, which is the only place where they are available [$14]. I used to have a small Sears shop vac with a paper pre-filter. I used them on our larger Stanley vac because they worked so well. I was looking for something similar for the Ryobi. These Fette filter bags are perfect for the job. They stand a little higher than the filter - I simply rolled up the elastic end like a sleeve on a shirt. There doesn't appear to be any reduction in suction. When it becomes clogged, it is simple to replace it because there are 12 in the package, and the dirty bag can be washed later.
You should be aware of the following: It appears to be a good bag, but on this model, it would need to replace the pleated filter rather than being used as a prefilter. It would have a small surface area and clog up quickly if used as a replacement. Will it also effectively catch dust or will it scatter it throughout the garage?.
5 lb. of potatoes Bag! I tried to put it on a 16 gallon Craftsman shop vacuum, and it took two of us to get it over the filter! It liked two after I got it down. I decided to cut the stitches in the end where it's sown together because I needed 5" to cover the filter. I was finally able to pull it all the way down. br>I noticed the vacuum suction wasn't quite as good as it had been, so I installed this over a new filter as well. I bought this in the hopes of preserving my new filter, but I'm stuck with it because I cut the stitching, so I'll keep it on. Let's see how things go!.

I re- To save money, I'll use them about four times each, and they're cheap enough that I can just throw them away after each use! Normally, these filters cost $7 each, but with this bundle pack, they only cost $1. 98 each! Excellent value for money!.
a 5 gallon shop vac. This was an ideal match and solution for those paper circle style filters that always seemed to get pulled in far enough to allow all of the dust into the vacuum's motor. These cloth bag filters fit perfectly and have a very tight fit over the top of the motor, preventing dirt from entering.
