I bought it because I wanted to get rid of the light switch-controlled outlet and use the light on the ceiling fan instead. I took out the light switch from the wall-mounted box, hardwired the wires, and replaced the switch. It looks fantastic and functions flawlessly. It was very simple to remove the cover and program it using the same dip switch configuration as the celling fan/light remote. I intend to finish the other bedrooms in my house with switch-controlled outlets next.
I wanted an in-wall remote controller for my Kichler fan because the included hand-held remote with wall bracket was huge and not my style, and an in-wall switch has almost no chance of being lost. )br>br>I deducted one star because it has a light dimmer switch, which I didn't need (there was no light on the fan), and Kichler does not make a model without it. Everything else is in order.
This is a great feature to have when replacing old switches on an older fan or light. We liked the included stand-alone remote, but we wanted to be able to turn things on and off without having to walk through the dark. Because this is essentially a battery-powered remote mounted to the wall, the most difficult part is figuring out what to do with the wires. However, it functions flawlessly.
The unit is basically a fixed remote that is powered by a special sized battery (not an AA or AAA), but I was combining it with a portable unit that is not always close by to room entry, so make sure you set the four PIN settings right to match an existing fan. The unit is basically a fixed remote that is powered by a special sized battery (not an AA or AAA), but I was combining it with a portable unit that is not always close by to room entry. The only minor issue I had was that one of the two units I purchased did not work at first; I discovered that one of the two battery contacts had shifted back into the unit; I easily fished it out, and it worked fine after that.
I replaced the wall switch with this Geno fan remote control switch after our electrician installed our Geno fan and left the wall switch dead. It works great, and the multiple plates mean you'll be able to match your room's wall plates for any situation. I'm glad to have a working wall switch again, and while I'm used to a rocker switch rather than the button on this one, it's only a minor change. The light button is even made of luminescent material, making it easier to recognize in the dark.
It worked perfectly with the receiver that was already in the ceiling after I installed it in place of the old switch. This does not need to be wired into the wall. The switch box is only equipped with a remote control.
It is simple to set up and use. I used my old one's pin as a template. Different color plates and switchplates are included (not shown). To use the dimmer, you must have a compatible (dimmable) bulb; otherwise, it will flicker and burn out prematurely.
Isn't it supposed to work with the receiver that came with it?.
