It should; there's no way of knowing unless you try it.
We needed a longer drop rod because our fan was installed in a vaulted ceiling. Finally, a 48-inch extension rod was required. When they say "original," I believe they're referring to the color match. We were given a dark color It's a good match, fortunately.
It's just a piece of pipe that we used indoors but could also be used outside. It's possible that it'll rust after a few years.

Rather than a rod, it's more like a stump. So, in order to get the proper distance, I'll have to buy this. Basically, it's a pricey pipe.
An extension for an interior ceiling fan was required. Based on the color, it appeared to be the best option after reading several reviews. It turned out to be exactly what I needed and went in without a hitch.
