I bought these to replace fan blades on our screened-in porch because the ad said they were METAL fan blades. I placed two orders. The old MDF ones had started to droop due to the high Missouri humidity outside, and when I opened them up, I discovered that they were not METAL fan blades, but PLASTIC fan blades. I was disappointed because I had expected plastic to last longer than MDF, so I painted them with several coats of Rustoleum Antique Pewter Hammered Metallic paint ($7/can). When my husband redrilled the two new side holes to fit our fan, they were the same ole MDF fan blades that there were a million of on Amazon, so I had to fill those first. He decided to install the fan blades because they were far too damaged to return. Despite our best efforts, they will almost certainly droop in the humidity. Both the packaging and the Amazon description need to be updated with the most up-to-date information. They would probably be fine if someone wanted white or weathered oak MDF fan blades, but due to mislabeling, they didn't work for us.
Then there was a crash a few weeks later. One of the blades had broken apart in the area where the screws were located. We hadn't even turned on the air conditioning. br>br>As a result, I got in touch with the firm. They were extremely helpful and sent replacement blades right away. br>br>I replaced the blade that had broken. Yay! br>br>Then, two weeks later, br>br> - yet again, to no avail - It happened again. We're not sure if it was the same blade or a different one. However, two blades broke on their own. We will not try again for safety reasons. br>br> When the blade of the moving fan flew off, thank goodness no one was near it. br>br>And it's too late and difficult to return it now. br>br>This was a setback. It's not something you should buy.
I thought to myself, "Oh boy - I broke a blade in my RV overhead fan by not paying attention as I pulled in a slide-out"), after breaking a blade in my RV overhead fan by not paying attention as I pulled in a slide-out. I'll have to get a new fan installed. I was overjoyed to come across these, as they appeared to be exact replicas of the originals. They weren't exactly the same - br>br> I had to enlarge the mounting holes, but once that was done, they went on without a hitch. I weighed each one and found that they were all under half-pound. ounces apart from one another. The proportions were perfect.
These didn't fit any of the fans I bought them for, but I was able to make them work by drilling holes in them myself.
Molded plastic was listed as a feature of the product. That isn't the case. Are the MDF products the same as the ones I had to replace? Other than that, the installation and hole alignment went smoothly; the only thing that needed to be done was to slightly enlarge the predrilled holes to accommodate the arms, but that was no problem. It's disappointing that we're made of MDF rather than plastic.
It's so nice to have new, clean blades on a ceiling fan. It appears that you are a new fan.
To accommodate the screws that I removed and reused, I had to drill the holes slightly larger.
