A Senco 1/4" stapler had suddenly failed, and I needed to replace it. Max USA framing nailers, siding nailers, and a roofing nailer are among the tools I own. All of them have done a fantastic job, so it was only natural to try out their stapler. It works just as well as their other products. Anyone in need of a sturdy 1/4" stapler should definitely consider it. br>br>When I build pole buildings, I use mine to attach 29ga metal trim pieces like ratguard and drip edge. This is the only 1/4" stapler I've ever had that can drive a staple through two layers of 29ga steel. That is something that neither the Senco nor the Bostitch can do. br>br>It's safe to say that this stapler is my personal favorite.
I've been constructing cabinet boxes with this gun - 1/4 ply backs stapled with 1" staples and 1-inch staples While I assemble the cabinet boxes with pocket screws, I use 1/4" staples to hold 3/4" ply sides, tops, bottoms, and partitions in place. So far, everything has gone swimmingly - The gun has a good quality feel to it and is easy to adjust the depth. The only annoyance (and I'm stretching here) is that the magazine can only hold one strip of staples at a time. Before you can load another strip, you have to be nearly empty, as in down to the last couple of staples. In the end, I really like it, and I'll have to look into MAX when I need a new stapler.
To make this gun work, I had to make a few modifications. I turned the compressor's pressure all the way up, but the nails still wouldn't set. As a result, I had to remove the safety device. The gun's end is now pressed up against the wood. The only way to get the gun to work was to do it this way. However, now that the mods have been applied, the gun is firing flawlessly. It would be a fantastic weapon if it could fire right out of the box.
This gun, like other MAX guns, appears to be well built, but it has a tendency to double fire on a regular basis.
Because a local tool dealer recommended it, I had high expectations for it. That's not good. Every half-dozen shots, the staple does not fully seat. I end up belt sanding the stick uppers a lot more than I should. Despite the fact that it is made in China, I will try a Senco again.
It's a truly remarkable device. It performs exactly as Max claims. It's simple to use, precise, and reliable.
