Questions & Answers

How many cubic feet per minute do you have?

At 90 psi, there are six options.

Is it possible to add a set of wheels to the Mac 320Q?

It would be preferable if you constructed a cart for it.

Is it possible to use a small paint spray gun with this unit?

It's not so much about spray gun control as it is about the size of the object you're painting. It has sufficient power to paint small objects, but it will struggle to keep up with larger objects than a door. It isn't because of the small tank size that it is limited. It's a two-digit number. The CFM rating is 6.

What's the unit's duty cycle?

I believe that 50% is the duty cycle limit for all Makita compressors.

Selected User Reviews For Makita MAC320Q Quiet Series 1-1/2 HP, 3 Gallon, Oil-Free, Electric Air Compressor

The MAC320Q and the MAC700 are two different types of computers
3/5

This Makita compressor is of typical Makita quality and performs admirably. I have a number of Mac700s, and I recently purchased a new MAC320Q. It is quieter than regular Makita compressors, but not significantly so when compared to the Makita MAC700 compressor. This new Makita Mac320Q model weighs about the same as the standard Makita Mac700, but has less HP, a lower CFM rating, takes up more floor space, is more awkward to carry, and vibrates just as much as or more than the standard Makita Mac700. To add insult to injury, it is more expensive and comes with a proprietary pressure regulator manifold system that will be expensive to replace if it fails. They're all doomed to fail at some point. My money will remain on the tried-and-true MAC700. They appear to last an eternity, and you can replace both the pressure switch and the regulator with generic parts found on Amazon for around $25. If you only care about silence, the new MAC320Q will make you very happy; otherwise, it's not a good value.

Workhorse who is quiet
5/5

The weight of this compressor is listed as 44 pounds. It's lighter than some similar machines I looked at and tested, but those others were on wheels. Although it is heavy, some users may wish for wheels and a handle, it is not difficult to carry. On the back, there's a shield that rides against your leg (or at least that's what I think it's for), and it's well balanced with the carry handle. The fact that there are two hose connections is a nice touch. The compressor is rated to come on at 105 psi, so you can use two tools at the same time or connect two different air nailers, for example. That's a useful feature because I've had problems with my framing nailer not seating the final three nails before the other compressors kick in due to low pressure. This compressor fills up quickly and quietly after being depleted. If I had one minor complaint, it would be nice if the pressure was 150 psi or higher (it's a 135 psi machine) so it didn't have to run as frequently. The side effect would be that it would run longer each time, and while it isn't running constantly or anything, the increased pressure could be beneficial. It's a solidly built workhorse that's quieter than some other comparable "quiet" compressors I've used by several decibels. It moves 2 times as much air as it moves. 6 SCFM) and the level of quiet it produces while doing so, I believe it is a difficult package to beat.

Compressor of excellent quality
5/5

Compressor of excellent quality. Unlike many other compressor brands, this one is not made of cheap materials. (I've purchased and returned several) All of the welds are uniform and clean, and the fit, finish, and design, as well as the materials used, aren't cheap. It holds air without leaking and runs quietly without rattling. I work as a freelancer. My tools are something I use on a regular basis.

100% JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK Such a colossal letdown from a company that used to be so successful
3/5

I was ecstatic to get my hands on this compressor and use it around the house. When I switched it on, flames erupted from the motor's interior. WOW. My 13-year-old son was so terrified of the compressor that he ran away. I've spent my entire career in the automotive industry, and I've always worked with compressors; Makita, is this the junk you're building? Is this the garbage to which you've lent your name? You ought to feel embarrassed. Once a great company, it is now a Chinese junk product to be purchased. And for those who are lucky enough to have one that works, it appears that this compressor will have an extremely short lifespan. Just looking at the motor, it appears to be poorly constructed. br>Wishing whoever buys this the best of luck. We expect quality, particularly at this price point. I'm completely taken aback. Back to the junkyard it came from, in the box. Makita, you are doing a fantastic job. Sad to say, but I will never buy another Makita.

AWESOME
5/5

So, I guess I'm an old fxxx now. I'm approaching 70 years of age and am only now considering retirement. I'm putting things together and setting up my shop. An air compressor is a necessary component of any well-equipped shop. One of those pancake compressors was what I was using at the time. It's useful for small tasks, but I always find myself waiting for it, so I decided to give Makita a shot. This thing is constructed like a tank, I must say. Each and every detail has been carefully considered. It's a lot less noisy than the pancake thing. I'm blown away by how quickly it produces. It doesn't do everything I wanted it to, but it's perfect for what it's meant to do. This is the compressor to get if you only need to do light work. This is the way to go if you're a contractor and need to keep track of your nail guns and other tools. If you want to keep up with the air impacts, sanders, and other power tools, this is not the tool for you. I'll be on the lookout for a small compressor with a tank capacity of around 30 gallons. That'll be more appropriate for the setup I'm doing. The Makita bears no blame. It's absolutely incredible. (for the purpose for which it was created).

The oil-free "quiet" compressor that is common in China
4/5

They're quiet, and it's filling up faster than the last one. br>br>Be aware that everything has red thread locker on it if you plan to modify any fittings. I broke my safety valve while attempting to add a pre-filter. fitting for a regulator I'm in desperate need of a new manifold at the moment. Otherwise, it's nice, but why do air compressors have thread locker on them?.
