Questions & Answers

I'm using a Tekton 46135 3/8" id hose with a milton s-type connector. The 2010a appears to leak air despite having 212 1/4" npt m style connectors. Is anyone else having problems like this?

The old valves/quick connects were bad and leaked, so be careful when replacing them because the manifold is made of plastic and can break.

Is there any corrosive activity in the tank?

I'm hoping so with an aluminum tank! My previous compressor, which had a steel tank, lasted 40 years, so I'm hoping this will be my final one, lol.

For the 2010a, I need a new gauge. The larger gauge snapped off near the compressor's brass fitting. What part number are you looking for? thx?

It's not necessary to find something identical on Amazon; as long as it's close and screws into the threads, it'll suffice.

Is it possible to use this with a small hvlp rifle? At 29psi, the gun produces around 7cfm?

It has easy access to air because of the motor. I'd check the tank's capacity to see if it can handle the volume of use. If you use the hvlp gun frequently, it might be too small. Personally, I'd prefer a larger tank, but this one will handle your weapon.

Compressor that is the quietest I've ever heard
3/5

because of the WRONG reason This compressor was purchased to replace a 25-year-old DeVillbiss compressor. I decided to give this new ultra-quiet compressor a shot. I have to say, it's the quietest unit I've ever seen or used. But hold on a sec. What they don't tell you is how they manage to keep everything so quiet. The fine print is as follows: Because it doesn't work, it's very quiet. It's as if it's a stone sitting there. br>br>Mine died after 14 months and less than 20 uses, despite the fact that it was supposed to be my backup compressor for inflating tires and trimming nails around the house. Only a little bit of use. I have a large DeWalt compressor for my primary compressor, which I use almost every day in the shop for everything from finishing to running air sanders. I've been working with compressors and tools for more than 30 years, both as a hobby and professionally. This company, on the other hand, has taken the "quiet" mantra to new heights. I've written them two nicely worded emails and left them two voice mails explaining the failure and hoping they'll be able to fix it or send replacement parts. Well. Apparently, they don't answer the phone or respond to emails. They also prefer to keep a low profile when it comes to customer service. I guess they take their marketing very seriously. I'd like to say they were rude, condescending, or otherwise unhelpful, but the truth is that they didn't exist. "Quiet" is all they are. " Actually, it's a lot quieter than that. I'd call it dead silence. br>br>From what I can tell, the warranty is for a year. It was simply my bad luck that mine failed after 14 months. Of course, given their refusal to return communications, I'm not sure how anyone could get a warranty claim from them. br>br>BEWARE OF THE EMPTOR - Before you buy anything, think about my experience. It irritates me that a $200 door stop is taking up space in my store. Those of you who prefer specific ratings can find them here: br>br> PROS: br>br> It was delivered to my house after I ordered it, and it works perfectly as a door stop. It's firmly planted on the floor thanks to the rubber feet. It is VERY quiet. br> It may not be possible to get any quieter after 14 months. br>br>CONS: br>It doesn't compress air (which is a major flaw for an air compressor)br>The plug wire is too shortbr>The internal parts are light, i. e. Cheapbr>When it worked, the regulator was out of whack and inaccuratebr>No customer servicebr>EVERYTHING ELSE you could possibly expect from a compressor or tool companybr>br>If by some miracle, I hear back from California Air in the future, I'll update this review. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Feb 6, 2017br>br>Since it was already broken, I decided to disassemble it and see what was going on. Customers should be aware that this unit appears to have a cast aluminum housing upon closer inspection. For the compressor's guts, this is a VERY BAD choice. The area where the valve seats shattered on the down stroke, as seen in the photos. There was metal shrapnel all over the place. The shards pierced the silicone gasket and were blown all over the motor. I hope the images do a better job of explaining it than my words. The valve gaskets were also discoloring and hardening because they were made of a low-cost silicone. This device is a piece of garbage. If you have one and it has not yet failed, I believe it will. Don't say I didn't warn you if you buy one after seeing these photos! Oh. In any case. After another email and phone call, I have yet to hear back from the company.

Unfortunately, the quality of the product is poor

The 1hp 2gal and the 2hp 4gal were purchased. br>br>The 1hp 2gal is the subject of this review: br>Amazon Prime made the purchase simple and expedited the delivery. The first 1hp 2gal I received appeared to be in excellent condition and was as quiet as advertised. However, as soon as the compressor turned on, there were leaks all over the place. As a result, Amazon provided me with a return label, and a replacement was on its way! br>br>The second 1hp 2gal arrived quickly, and it was light weight and quiet, just like the first. It quickly filled up, and then the compressor kicked in, causing leaks all over the place! br>br>This time, I figured that if the leaks are in easily accessible areas, I'd just fix them because the compressor is quiet and attractive. only to discover that the bottom-welded feet were all bent out of shape. Picking up the compressor to move it broke one of the bent feet, revealing that the "L" brace shaped metal was only held on to the frame by a small tack weld. This was a breathtaking experience. br>br>It's unfortunate that so many businesses try to save money by cutting corners wherever they can. br>br>Rather than having two compressors shipped and returned as junk, it would be far less expensive to pressure test the system and have the manufacturing line actually weld a bit more for durability, and in turn receive great reviews from every customer. plus the incalculable cost of receiving negative feedback on the products your company sells. br>br>CAL Air has now lost two compressors from inventory that were deemed damaged, missed customers who read this review and decided to shop elsewhere, and my own small compressor need, which I will now have to shop elsewhere as well. what is it for? To save money on manufacturing practices such as corner cutting? br>br>Fortunately, my other purchase (a 2hp 4gal from CAL Air) does not leak and is in good working order, so that's a plus. However, it has a completely different design. This isn't to say there aren't flaws, but it's better than the two previous attempts at this 1hp 2gal.

It was perfect after one simple adjustment! Update from three years ago: The engine is still going strong and silently! I used a Harbor Freight wireless wall outlet rated at 15 amps to power it

It's simple to turn off and on from anywhere in the store. For over a year, I haven't used my large compressor. I recently used it with a framing nailer, and it held up well over 100 feet of hose. This is a fantastic resource. br>I just got my 2010A in the mail. br>My ears have already expressed their gratitude! This took the place of my old Porter Cable C2002 "pancake compressor. " It served me well for a long time, but it was extremely loud. It was nearly half the price of this new ultra quiet compressor when I sold it. It's also lighter and has an easy-to-use drain valve, in addition to being quiet. br>At first, I was disappointed because the pressure regulator on the 2010A was set too low for my needs. I couldn't set 1 1/2" 18 ga nails in oak because of the high pressure (84/113 PSI). Not good. I contacted customer service, and George provided me with a photo of the inside of the regulator as well as instructions on how to replace it. It's now set to 95/120, and it's working perfectly! If you don't require the higher pressure, I'm confident that the reduced strain will result in a longer-lasting pump. br>Now, except when I need a large volume of air, I plan to use this compressor in the shop instead of the big, very noisy 30 gallon compressor. br>This thing is going to change the game!.
