Questions & Answers

Debris (metal pellets) in the tank has been reported in reviews. Is this a solved issue?

My order was placed on 12/2017, and it arrived with pellets in the tank. For the time being, I'm returning it as defective and replacing it with another.

How much psi can this unit handle? I require a pressure of 150 pounds per square inch. Is that something that this device can do?

120 psi

What is the capacity of this compressor in inches?

15 inches

What should I buy in order to use Iwata airbrushes?

Iwata airbrushes, if my memory serves me correctly, use 1/8" thread. This problem can be solved in a number of ways:
1. To replace the universal 1/4′′ quick connector, use a 1/4" male to 1/8" male adapter. After that, connect it with your 1/8" hose.
2. Invest in a 1/8" threaded quick connector plug.
3. You'll need a 1/4" in and 1/8" out if you want to install a water trap.

Selected User Reviews For California Air Tools CAT-1P1060S Light & Quiet Portable Air Compressor, Silver

Before you use it, inspect it! I have mixed feelings about this compressor; it is extremely quiet in comparison to any other compressor I've seen or used, but the fit and finish, even when compared to $50-$100 compressors, is poor
3/5

Menards and Home Depot had $100 compressors that I was considering. I'd much rather pay an extra $50 for one that has been properly assembled and tested. br>br>The first unit I received had a large amount of very small steel beads in the tank, which I didn't notice at first and which eventually ruined the compressor's regulator and coupling, as well as the coupling on my hose and a blow gun. They're jam-packed with steel beads and have seized up, thanks to the fact that I didn't immediately connect them to a nail gun. So I try to contact California Air Tools and explain what happened, as well as see if they would prefer to handle the return themselves or if I should return through Amazon. I submitted a form on the website after three unsuccessful phone calls, and I have yet to receive a response after a week. br>br>I ended up doing an exchange through Amazon because I really needed the compressor, and the second one arrived today with tiny steel beads in the tank, just like the first. To get them out, I had to open the drain and rock the compressor back and forth. I'm hoping it got rid of the majority of them because I like the compressor and don't want to deal with another return. The second unit didn't have nearly as many beads as the first; the attached photo shows how many I got from the first. You can easily hear the beads rolling around in the tank, so before hooking up any good air tools, rock it back and forth a few times with your ear near the tank. br>br>As for fit and finish, decals are slapped on at random with most of them not even close to being straight, and the second unit was rattling like crazy because the "on/off" switch was touching the loose plastic cover instead of being bent away from it like my first one was. The entire pressure gauge/regulator assembly on the second unit was also at a 10 degree angle from parallel with the tanks, whereas the first one was straight on. Both of them had a lot of sticky pipe sealant on them. The filter/muffler cap should also be avoided because the plastic flashing is quite sharp. I'm not sure if it's a QA issue or if the company is simply uninterested, but either explanation isn't very good. Overall, the device is so quiet that I'm willing to overlook the other issues; I just wish there was a better version.

They don't appear to be interested in honoring their warranty
3/5

When I called customer service to report a leak, they advised me to figure out which part was broken and order it. I contacted customer service once more, and they informed me that a warranty request could only be made if the problem was present right out of the box prior to use. They said it was possible that I bumped it while moving it, which caused the leak. When I told them that's not how warranties work, they suggested putting soap on it and showing them a video of the leak. I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to say next. In addition, the customer service email address is misspelled. Customer service can be reached at customerservice@californiaairtools. com. com.

For the past eight years, I've been airbrushing
5/5

I make a connection. For the past eight years, I've been airbrushing. I use a manifold that I built to connect at least three and as many as six airbrushes at a time. The load is taken care of by this machine. It makes less noise than my twin tank Hitachi and is much easier on my back to lift and pack.

It appeals to my tastes
5/5

The following are the reasons. I finally got my compressor, and I wanted to put it to the test right away with some of my small nailers and staplers, as well as my Porter Cable framing nailer just for fun. br>The small nailers, including the finish nailer, work well and recover faster than expected; the only time I had to wait for it to catch up to the finish nailer was when I pushed it. The framing nailer, however, is a different story. Nails with a gauge of 16 ga? It works, but it wasn't designed for that, and I expected a longer recovery time (a few seconds). That's fine with me; it's a home compressor designed for the average guy who only uses it on occasion. br>OK, I'm not one to believe all of the hype from manufacturers who try to sell you their product, so I did my own test with regard to noise level and the time it takes for the unit to fill to Max from empty. The tank was filled in 51 seconds. br> That, in my opinion, is quite good. br>For the noise test, I placed it next to my old no-name pancake compressor and ran it until it reached a maximum of 1 minute 34 seconds and could "Wake the Dead. " br>I turned on the CAT1060, and while it's a little louder than an Iwata airbrush compressor, it's a world away from my pancake's racket. While we were standing right next to it, I was able to have a normal conversation with my wife. I'll be using it in a room next to our bedroom, and I'm an early riser, so it's a good deal. I originally purchased this to use with my airbrush, but I realized I could also use it for other projects. br>I dialed C's number. I asked if I could use it with my surge protector, and they told me no! However, despite the fact that the warning on the label states that extension cords are not permitted, they told me that I could use one as long as it was 14 ga and no longer than 25 feet. He pointed out that the information can be found on page 10 of the pamphlet. What happened to me that I didn't notice? In any case, I think it's a great home compressor that won't bother your Ancestors and will meet the majority of our needs. If you require more space, you should purchase a larger item. I hope this information is useful to those who are debating whether or not to purchase one. br>It's time to make some changes. There are two things I discovered that you might want to think about. br>1 Because air pressure is difficult to adjust, it may be difficult to achieve a precise pressure. br>2 The on/off switch is difficult to use and does not turn off with a positive click. It's in an awkward spot, and if you have large hands and fingers, it might be difficult to reach. I'll add an extension to mine, and for air pressure for an airbrush, I'll simply install a MAC valve to eliminate any problems with adjustment.

The diaphragm of the air regulator had already cracked
3/5

When Compressor arrived, he was met with a slew of issues. Because the regulator gauge had sticky residue on it and had been leaking since I received it, I believe I was sent a used compressor. Furthermore, the regulator's diaphragm appears to be broken, as air is constantly leaking out of it; this is absurd. If the compressor was truly new and unused, this shouldn't be possible. I was looking forward to using it until I realized I'd have to return it or order a replacement, which would take more than twice as long as it took to ship the first time. I was let down.
