This is not a 47-inch snow tube; I already own a 47-inch snow tube, and it was clear as soon as I opened the box that this was not what was advertised. I estimated the tube to be around 33 to 36 inches long at most, as shown in the photo next to a real 47-inch snow tube.
This is an excellent sledding tube! We've only had it for a short time, but it's already proven to be durable after being used by several children. It's also very quick! A second one was just purchased.
More Appropriate for Two People (Adults) I haven't been able to test it out in the snow (because the little snow we had melted just before it arrived), but it appears to be well-made. br>The tube layers appear to be sturdy, and the handles appear to be secure. There's even a small tow hook on which you can tie a rope. This is convenient because we can simply drag it back up the hill between runs. br>This says it fits 2 - 3 people. I'm not sure about three, unless they're all children or small people. This is a good size for a kid and an average to slightly chunky adult. Remember that the weight limit is around 330 pounds, so if you put three people on it, the average weight per person must be under 110 pounds. That's why it's a stretch to say three people. br>This is very easy to inflate. My husband used our air compressor, but it could easily be inflated with a hand pump as well.
With our shop vac, we can easily blow this up - It'll only take a few seconds. If you don't have a shop vac, you can use a mattress pump or a hairdryer (on the cool setting with a water bottle fitted over it). It's big enough for two of my kids (ages 7 and 7) to fit in. 13) at a time, as well as a spot where we can tie a rope to allow kids to ride behind the four wheeler. Instead of traditional sleds that take up way too much space, I love that this folds up if it survives our winter and can be stored for next year. It appears to be fantastic so far. If it doesn't live up to my expectations this winter, I'll be sure to let you know.
However, they become stuck on less dramatic slopes and fine snow (as in my backyard). This is the ONLY type of sledding toy that picks up speed and makes it down the hill consistently. This one is also large enough to accommodate multiple people, so dad and kid can enjoy the snow together. Sure, you have to be careful not to tear it like our old one did on some sticks or rocks, but this is still a great winter activity.
