The good thing about swim shirts is that they protect you from the sun, but the bad thing is that they're designed to be tight-fitting - My son, on the other hand, is not fond of it. This shirt, on the other hand, appears to be a good fit for the job. He is an average build 5' 4" 115lbs who wears a size 16 in most clothing brands. Those familiar with Under Armour youth fitted clothes will notice that the fit of this shirt is very similar. The sleeves and lower part of the shirt are close to the skin but still a little loose, which is to be expected given the "slim fit" nature of the shirt; the shirt's tightest part for my son is right at the chest area - So, while it's a little small, it's still manageable. It's a fantastic product in general.
I've owned a few O'Neill rashguards and have always been pleased with their quality and fit. After a few wears, the last two thinned out in spots. Both of them were returned. I'm not sure if they were damaged or old, but they weren't what I was expecting.
Order a size larger than usual. These shirts are supposed to be "snug," according to my understanding. The problem is as follows: The shirt has to be a good fit for you. As I suspected, the sizing is incorrect. My son is thin and small for his age, but he is gaining weight. I ordered a size larger than he normally wears, figuring that it would be fine if the shirt was too big because he will most likely grow into a larger size this summer. I'm glad I did, because the shirt would have been too small if I had ordered his current "correct" size; it now fits him perfectly with no room to grow. I'm going to keep it, but he's not going to use it much.
I wanted to get a newer, bigger rash guard for my son, who is about to turn 12 and is of average height and build. 80 pounds is a good estimate. The fabric felt soft and stretchy, as if it would be comfortable to wear. The neckline didn't feel as suffocating as many rash guards do. I ordered a size 14 in neon green in the hopes that he would be able to grow into it. It was only a couple of minutes long. As a result, I switched to a white size 16 in exchange. I added photo comparisons from my son's current rash guard, which runs a little longer, white sharks sized M (8), and a grey adidas performance shirt size L (10). As you can see, these O'neill rash guards are quite short, but not in terms of width; only in terms of length. I'm surprised no one has mentioned how short these runs are in other reviews. I wish they had fit, as the quality was excellent.
This was purchased for my ten-year-old son. It's well-made and thicker than most, but I assume that's because it provides UV protection. It's a good thing he's slim because he'll protect himself from the cold water. It's a slim fit, which is fine for him because he's slim, but if your son is huskier, go up a size.
My son won't go swimming without a rash guard because he thinks it's too modest, which is strange because he's a skinny twelve-year-old who isn't fat at all. He is about average height for his age and the kids he goes to school with, so I went with the size 14 because he also wants his rash guard to not be too tight. Well, it fits him perfectly; it's slightly loose on an average-sized twelve-year-old but not too loose for swimming. I imagine it would fit a 14-year-old perfectly, snug but not constricting at all, the way rash guards are supposed to fit. In any case, we're both pleased with our purchase, so it's a win-win situation.
My children have a balanced personality. skinned and prone to catching fire. Summertime necessitates the use of a rash guard to protect against UV rays. This item is made to order. a good fit but not too snug It fits perfectly, has a nice appearance, and washes easily. I'd suggest it.
When it comes to swim shirts, this one does the job. I wasn't sure about the fit, but it was perfect. My son's only gripe is that the material is extremely thin and sticks to him once wet. I've bought thicker swim shirts that kept their shape and fit when wet. That was the only drawback; aside from that, it was a good buy. The color was a perfect match for his swim trunks.
