This pump has an ignition protection feature, so is it safe to use in the bilge?

In the instructions or on the pump it does not say anything about ignition protection. There are references to installing a pump on a boat in the instructions.

What do I have to do to reverse it, is there a switch or can I just disconnect and reconnect the ?

An reversible rocker switch would be helpful. The polarity of the switch changes.

Is it realistic to assume that this will fill a 550-pound bag quickly? My math suggested it would take 13 hours to reach full capacity if this were the case. The time is 3 minutes. Do you have any experience testing in the field?

There is not much I can tell you, but we will be using the pump to fill ballast tanks on sailboats. I am still building the boat, so I have not used the pump in accordance with the plans.

For the price they are a good Installed new ballast pumps on my 2007 XStar vehicle, had to hard wire them, but they work fine and can be reversed.

The pumps are terrible and they are not refundable

Invest in a Jabsco instead, these pumps are terrible and unreturnable. I bought two of them and one of them burned after about 10 seconds of use while the other worked but only pumped about 2 gallons a minute. I'll be dumping mine.

That pump is horrible! Jabsco does not sell the exact same pump for $35 at harbor freight as it states on their website. Nor did they bother to put their sticker on it when they could have done so with a stick.
