I really don't know a lot about surfing, however with my limited knowledge I believe that soft top boards only need basic wax (such as a lubricant). have heard my son only applies base coat to his hardboard tops before regular wax foam boards do not need it. It may be helpful to know this!

There is definitely some value in buying wax that is specific to softboards. There are the same bumps but the wax actually stays on the board once a session is over.
I haven't used it yet, but since it is a soft board, I expect it will work just fine.
