It is a very fast unit to set up, so if you are good with computers, you will be ready to dive immediately. The readout has large characters where they are needed, making it easy to read. A separate device is required to download your profiles but that is a fairly inexpensive upgrade. There is a little lag when updating pressure changes, but after 50 dives with this unit, I don't see that being an issue so long as you aren't deep or Despite the fact that the markings seem to fall off the face so easily, my rating is only 4 stars instead of 5. In the event I were aware of this, I would have covered them in enamel so that they would be more protected. Besides that, this is a fine unit for being hundreds cheaper than others that function remarkably similarly.
It's a good product that works well.
The content is extremely reliable, and the text is easily readable.
I received the item, but it doesn't.
As a Quad Air owner, I'm not very fond of it. When it is darker, it is hard to see due to the poor illumination. It is important to memorize their locations since all the readouts are the same color. There are a lot of hard to follow schematics in the owner's manual since it is only digital. The PSI readout is inconsistent after pressurizing a system, which is the most annoying of all problems. As it does read when it gets to 4 feet in depth, but I don't know what it reads at the surface, just before I immerse. The device will stay powered if I shut off the tank valve, depressurize, and then pressurize, but it will blink out if it is not submerged in water immediately. A diver's diary app is a waste of time. Then, I suggest another computer, either a Perdix or Oceanic from Shearwater. In the meantime, I will deal with the Mares until I have saved up enough to get another computer.
We were changing our diving setup and removing a pressure hose seemed, (at the time), like a good idea. Not to mention it was just one less hose to deal with. Both units were working fine until about 10 dives before my wife's wouldn't hear the pressure in her tank. Due to scheduling conflicts, she did not have an opportunity to attend On our second dive in Bonaire, my buddy paid for a dive on the boat. Two dives later he did the same! What the heck. Our dive was interrupted by two pressure gauges we had to borrow. After sending them back to Mares, I received them back three months later and both are working until the second dive, when mine stops working under water (I have a hardline pressure gauge just to be safe). Customers for Mares' customer service have zero support. There are no phone numbers that can be reached in the USA, and no help is available! There will be no more of this junk in my life. If I were to covertly pay twice the price for a Shearwater Teric, I'd think I'd get good customer service and I'd be getting what I paid.
The computer is very reliable, and it is very easy to operate.
