Despite wearing a size 11 skate I purchased a size 11 skate. The size of your shoes should be 5/12.
You should make sure that your trucks are mounted straight and that your wheels are fully seated in the bearings. It was my choice to buy these skates. Roller skating is something I'm getting back into at the age of 48. It was a pleasure to use these men's skates. Wearing a size 9, I am 5'9" tall.
