First off, let me tell you what they did for me I fell on my face on my first trip to the rink wearing these pads, and they prevented injury. Only a small bruise on my shin developed when the bottom of the plastic plate hit it, but my knees, elbows, and wrists were completely fine. However, there is a negative side to this There is something wrong with the size of these pads. The pants I wear are a size 16, and my legs are proportionately thick. I had problems with the Velcro straps cutting into my thighs and calves when I put them all the way around my legs. It is also too small for the elbow pads. On the other hand, the wrist guards are enormous and the Velcro barely connects because I have to wrap it so far around the Keep in mind that I am not much bigger than the *average* size for an adult American woman and also keep in mind that Triple8 definitely has some work to do when it comes to accommodating a wide range of sizes. If you weigh over 20 pounds, don't buy it. My son and I are just getting started skating again as I want to pass on the sport to him. Since I haven't skated in 20 years, I decided to get some gear for the sport. A little over 130 pounds and five feet six inches tall, I am. But you might want to skip the "Saver Series" this year. One positive aspect of Amazon's return policy was its simplicity.
