As an alternative to Shimano's ridiculous design on their XT cranksets, where a plastic preload cap must be installed with a special tool, this crankset is a perfect replacement. Here is an aluminum version with no tools required. Also, it costs less than the tool required for the Shimano.
This really shouldn't be a problem.

I had to return this hood because it was the wrong size for my bike. I didn't realize it needed an 18mm thread rather than There was nothing wrong with the product, but need to return it for whatever reason. The finish appears to be good, though.

The quality is solid. These bolts are a good fit and the machining and anodizing on my shimano E8000 cranks are good. I fell off my cranks on my Shimano e8000, which damaged the plastic bolt.

I really like the color, and it matches perfectly. The fact that it uses a hex wrench instead of the Shimano tool is awesome. This is a nice, solid product. I really like it. This is what I was looking for. It is well made, well machined, has a clean thread finish and a well formed thread. I've ordered another one for a different bike.
