Are these the most effective at preventing chain drops (as opposed to, say, vs. Chainrings from Raceface)?

Greetings, RC. We believe the Wolftooth rings are far superior to Raceface. We've only had a couple of dropped chains with Wolftooth, but dozens with RaceFace. They make a fantastic product, which we always recommend: )

Is this an A or ST tooth profile drop stop?

Remove A from the equation.

Is the fact that it's made of aluminum rather than steel or stainless steel a cause for concern?

Chainrings, on the other hand, are frequently made of aluminum. While it won't last as long as a high-quality steel one, with proper drivetrain maintenance, you'll get a lot of miles out of it.

Is it necessary to purchase chainring bolts for the 30t model?

The bolts you have on hand should suffice.

This is an excellent upgrade

There will be no more drops of chain. From a 3x8 to a 1x9, I converted my father's bicycle. The drivetrain consists of a 30T chain and an 11-speed transmission. Shimano SLX with an extended goat link, 50T with a long cage Shimano SLX It's been running smoothly since I switched from a 36T to a 30T chainring, and it's made a noticeable difference on flats and uphills.

Chainring is fantastic

It works well and is comfortable to wear. Because the original SRAM bolts didn't fit this replacement, I needed to purchase a new set of bolts. It was delivered quickly.
