It's lighter and easier to put on, and it's not as bulky, but it's still very warm and comfortable.

Is it possible that it was made in Vietnam, perhaps near where I served 52 years ago? There are no hard feelings because it is extremely well-made and comfortable.

It's light and warm, but I can't seem to get it to stay up over my mouth, ears, or nose without it slipping down again. It's more akin to a cowl around the neck. I'm a 165-pound woman who stands 5'11" tall. This may work on a thick man's neck, but it's a fail for me. I used to have an underarmour that I *loved*, but they no longer make it. The hunt is still going on.
Since I signed up for a 5k on New Year's Day and the temperatures were in the single digits, I bought this gaiter. Due to the cold, my training runs were difficult, and I ended up injuring my mouth as a result of running in such cold temperatures. My doctor recommended a gaiter, and after doing some research, I discovered this one from Smartwool, which has received rave reviews. It's extremely hot! It's perfect; I don't wear turtlenecks because they irritate my neck, so the first time I wore it, I was a little tense, but it stretched and adjusted to me within minutes, so that wasn't an issue. When I run, I pull it up over my nose and mouth, which eliminates any breathing problems during a cold-weather run. If you run or cycle with it over your mouth or nose, it will get wet, but it will wick the moisture away from your face. It stays in place reasonably well (other brands have adjustable straps, but this one fits perfectly without them). I machine washed my clothes on cold and hung them to dry after a long workout. The gaiter has now been worn six times and remains in excellent condition. I've also used it just on my neck, and it keeps me nice and warm. It was well worth the money, even if it was a little pricey.
This is close to being ideal. ish, silky Merino wool that is incredibly warm. It's just a tad too short; I wish they'd added another two minutes to it. It was 6" longer so it could be scrunched up a little more and pulled down your neck further and up over your chin, face, and nose without having to pull up from the base of your neck. It's fantastic apart from that! I went for a one-hour hike in a local park's woods and fields, which can get pretty chilly, and I was already sweating after about 30 minutes! Without the wind chill, the temperature was 12 degrees Fahrenheit. So. It keeps you warm, but it should only be worn when the temperature is below 20°F. Otherwise, you'll overheat.
I bought several of these neck gaiters because I adore them. I'd misplaced one, worn out another (after years of use), and needed a backup "just in case. " " For about four months out of the year, I wear this every day. Because cold air makes my asthma worse, and I spend a lot of time outside - Almost every day, I go for a walk, ride my bike, or take the bus. I require the ability to cover my mouth and nose. This makes it simple for me to pull it up when I need it and then lower it if my glasses fog up or I get too hot. br>br>You can even use it as a makeshift hat or a wide ear band. It's small enough to fit in your pocket, toss in a bag, or bring on a trip in case it gets cold. br>br>Like all SmartWool products, it is not the cheapest, but it is the best: soft but warm, durable, versatile, not bulky, and easy to wash. This is a must-have if you live somewhere where it gets cold in the winter and you spend a lot of time outside.
I bought this to wear while running in North Carolina during the winter, and I was disappointed that it didn't stay up over my nose and mouth. It started falling apart before I even got out of my driveway. I didn't even get a chance to see if it was warm or if it kept the wind out of my nose. I have a normal-sized head for a woman, so perhaps this is designed for men. I eventually returned it in exchange for a WoolX brand, which I prefer.
I adore smart wool products, and this is my third smart wool gaiter. It's well made, and it protects your face, ears, and neck. I go for a walk every day and walk my dog in all kinds of weather, and because I live in NE Ohio, it's always windy, so I always wear a hat. For extra coverage, I wear a hat and pull the gaiter up over my ears. I've never worn a gaiter without a hat on my head. It stays in place, and you have plenty of room to breathe. I either hand wash and hang dry my clothes, or I spot wash and dry them near the heater. This item is well worth the purchase price. Because I have asthma, I am unable to swallow the cold. It also keeps your neck warm and is easy to pack if you get too hot. Smart wool 5 stars is the only brand I buy.
For years, I've relied on them. These are fantastic. For years, I've relied on them. I probably use them earlier in the spring and later in the fall than other people because I ride a motorcycle. They're very warm, but they're also very light. thin. They're usually kept in the breast pocket of my jacket at all times.
When I'm biking or running, I despise having a draft on my neck for whatever reason. This thing is perfect in cold weather, perhaps even too perfect! It's long enough to cover both the upper and lower neck without the fabric bunching up like a traditional gaiter or buff. It's also great for sitting in the woods (hunting) on those chilly autumn or early winter days. br>br>When it comes to Smartwool, you can't go wrong. This is something I would recommend at any time of the day.
