The kid size is smaller and better suited to children under the age of four. Juniors is appropriate for children aged 8 to ten years. The age is fourteen.
For 4-year-olds, size 8 is a one-size-fits-all hat. 8 and 10 years old 10-year-olds can wear a size 14 hat. If the description says 4-year-old, there are two hats in a pack. 8 + 10- Aside from that, it's just one hat in a bunch.
I'm not sure how to quantify it, but it's very soft and stretchy, and the 10-inch length is perfect. My 12-year-old is a 14 size, and it fits him perfectly.

I purchased the 4-pack. For our 6, we need an 8 size. 5 year old boy who rides his bike to school every day. To give you a mental picture, it fits more like an oversize yamaka and does not cover the ears at all, which is the only reason I bought it. However, it is the perfect fit for my almost 4-year-old. The sizing is more 3-dimensional in my opinion. possibly five. It's a little thin, and it's nothing like my Gore Windstopper cap, but I couldn't find one in kid sizes. I'm going to give the 8-minute challenge a shot. 12 for the 6 year old, and I'll let you know when it comes in.
We live in Colorado, and he enjoys riding his motorcycle or scooter even (or especially!) on the weekends. We tried ski helmet-style ear muffs, but he said they made him feel funny in the snow and ice. Although this is extremely thin, it does keep him warm. When he wears this, we had to go up a size in helmets because they sit a little too high otherwise.
If you're looking for a helmet liner for a young child, this is a good option. My son is ten years old, and this would be too small for him to use as a helmet liner.
This was purchased for my six-year-old and three-year-old children. 5 yo. For my six-year-old, I ordered the Junior size, and for my three-year-old, I ordered the Kids size. 5 yo. The children's size didn't even cover his ears and kept riding up, so I had to purchase a Junior size, which now fits him (granted, both of my children have large heads, but not THAT large). On cold days, it's ideal for wearing beneath their bike helmets.
This is a fantastic product for your winter horseback riders. It's warm, but not too thick to go under their helmet.
These are ideal for my children who commute to school by bicycle. They're snug, but not overly so. My children are 5 and 7 years old and of average size, so it comfortably covers their ears, preventing them from being exposed to the wind while riding their bikes.
These worked well under my children's winter helmets. I have a two-year-old daughter. year- a five-year-old, and a ten-year-old I ordered a size up for them because they were older and had smaller heads.
My 9-year-old will not be able to wear this under his hockey helmet. It kept falling into his eyes and slipping off several times as he tried to put the helmet on.
