As you climb in steeper terrain with this angle, your hands remain out of the snow and ice - ideal for steep terrain. Self-arrest will be easier due to the downward slope of the shaft - It is not as cold and provides a better grip due to the material coating the shaft - I like how hefty the axe head feels I can swing it with great force when I need to
