Hello, this was originally designed to carry tools such as light saws and pulleys. Even so, it could very well be used to hold carabiners as well.

A carabiner holds my house/car keys, and I clip my keys to my purse using it. The clip I was using earlier was all gray, but I like the clip with a pop of yellow, which appeals to me more. Additionally, I used one of my Black Diamond ones for ice climbing, but since I got this one earlier this summer, I have not yet used it to clip my ice tools to my harness.
