The idea of a super hiking cargo pants used for my daughter's scouting and zip off convertible pants disappointed me. Everything works, but then they do the smaller pockets 60% smaller and no back pockets which defies the purpose of buying this for my girl to store pocket knives, cell phones, and It's light and comfortable, but it's a shame that you have to buy boys/men's clothing for hiking or tactical gear because the girls version lacks features that the boys version has. This isn't a "style" to flaunt, but rather one that employs CQR-based techniques. I'm talking about COME ON- If you're buying it for hiking, don't be fooled by the fact that it's for girls. Otherwise, I'd have gone out and purchased some girls' pants or capris.
I'm a petite lady who can occasionally dress in children's clothing. I was unable to use these. They fit, but there was a gap in the waist, and they were scratchy and swishy when walking. I'm not sure I would have kept them even if they did fit.
For my son, I absolutely adore this pair of pants and shorts! We live in the woods, so these are ideal for my son to wear out on our hikes and then zip off to play in the creek. I can't sing their praises highly enough. br>br>Advantagesbr> My son has a small waist, so the adjustable waistband in these is ideal for him. br> The length of the shorts is excellentbr>br>Consbr> The pants are a little longer than I anticipated, but they roll up nicely: )br>br>Overall, I would strongly suggest these pants. Because they worked so well, we bought them in four different colors.
Quality is excellent. Because the fabric isn't too thick, they can be worn in the summer to keep bugs at bay. It's great to finally find nice-fitting cargo pants for girls.
For my tall and skinny almost 7-year-old, I'll have to hem them, but the waist is adjustable. They have adequate pockets, and she appreciates the fact that the legs can be unzipped. I purchased the same size in the same brand's "youth" pants, which fit me much better. The others have a much too wide elastic waist that isn't adjustable, shorter but wider legs that don't zip off, and a waistband that isn't adjustable. Although the pockets in the girls' version are smaller, they are still adequate. For a skinny kid, this version is worth the extra money because it fits better.
My daughter's first time wearing them, the button ripped out! I'm hoping this is a one-time occurrence, because they appear to be good hiking pants otherwise. I sewed it back on, but there was still an issue with quality control.
I'm having a lot of fun with these, and my daughter thinks they're fantastic. It's nice to have some clothes for a girl that are functional as well as stylish. My daughter is thin and tall, and after reading other reviews, I was relieved to discover that these were a perfect fit for her. When we're out and about with all these lovely mosquitoes, it's nice to have a lightweight pant on hand. Because of the adjustability and length, she will be able to keep these clothes for more than 9 months.
These were purchased for my daughter, but they were given to a friend instead. Before ordering, I took my daughter's measurements and compared them to the sizing chart; they were much smaller than the sizing chart indicated (more like a 6 than an 8). My neighbor's child, on the other hand, adores them, and they appear to be in good condition.
