Yes, but only if you want to receive. If at all, the transmit power would be less than a quarter watt. On the vx_8dr, a voltage of 6 volts will barely transmit.
I considered doing it myself, but my apartment is too small. You should use rechargeable AA batteries if at all possible. Sorry!
No, that model isn't for you.
The clip is slightly smaller than the original, and it is flex-friendly. not spring-loaded, but plastic loaded. However, swapping clips would be very simple.

It's pleasant to use and accomplishes my objectives. If my lithium batteries die or I'm in a remote location (camping, etc. ), I can use 3 - 6 AA batteries. My radio is powered by AA batteries. Of course, the battery life isn't great, but the point is to have another source of power. br>br>The main problem I have with it is that it is overpriced. For less than the cost of this case with no batteries, I can get an aftermarket lithium replacement. Yes, I was aware of this prior to purchasing it, but I wanted to bring it to the attention of others who may be considering it. I only bought it because it has a different power source. If I had to do it all over again, I believe I would simply buy another aftermarket battery based solely on price; if this was half the price, I believe the value would still be there. In any case, food for consideration.
When using AA batteries, the power output is just under 1 watt, which isn't much but adequate for short-range work. More importantly, it allows you to use a pile of AA batteries to power the radio for listening, monitoring, scanning, and recording. Recently, I've been using my FT3D as a scanner, which allows me to save my lithium ion batteries for two-day use. With only my pile of AA NiMH batteries, I was able to power the radio for scanning and recording.
Yaesu quality at its best. It appears to be water resistant, as mentioned by another reviewer, so you won't lose that feature of the radio just because you ran out of Lithium battery packs. br>br>It would be a sad state of affairs if we were transmitting at a pathetic 0. Although it only outputs 8 watts (as the FT1XD does when using this battery pack), it'd be more than adequate for monitoring, short-range simplex, or strong repeater work when your 2200mAh batteries run out. br>br>I almost didn't get one for this radio (the FT1XD wasn't cheap, and neither were the plethora of other accessories I'd already added to it), but it was nagging at me because it was the only radio without an AA pack. It is preferable to possess rather than require.
For my new Yaesu FT-100, this 3 AA cell case is perfect. 2DR. As a backup, I can now use Panasonic Pro eNeloop batteries with a higher capacity. Alternatively, the factory can be used as the primary and the factory can be used as a backup. Original product of outstanding quality.
I expected it to make the radio (FD2DR) significantly wider than a standard rechargeable battery, but it is nearly the same size, secures to the radio just as well, and performs as advertised. The radio (at least on my model) displays the battery power level on the screen in the same way that it does with a regular battery.
I use lithium AA batteries in it to ensure that they last a long time and do not leak. br>br>I enjoy playing with my Yaesu VX- I use the 8DR as an FM radio for long periods of time, so the rechargeable battery is frequently depleted. I take this one out of my EDC bag, install it, and I'm good to go until I can recharge the other one. "Be Prepared," br>br>"Be Prepared," br>br>"Be Prepared," br>br "

It's a perfect fit and does exactly what it says on the tin. In the event that I am unable to charge my battery pack, I will use this as a backup battery. It should be simple to locate AA batteries.
The use of rechargeable batteries to power radios is a good idea. In the future, I will purchase more.
