I have two on an 8' x 16' porch, and they are very effective; the roof helps keep the citronella scent prominent.
It's been a long time - I used mine every day for a couple of hours. I'm not sure, but I believe it was between 3 and 6 weeks. I'm not sure how long it'll keep burning.
I usually put them under a table or on the floor, but far enough away that I don't have to look for them. avoiding direct inhalation of the fumes It doesn't smell bad, but it's not something I want to have in my immediate vicinity. It works perfectly!

Mosquitoes are a major problem in my area of Florida. I bought three of these and used them all at the same time, even lighting them hours before I was going to be outside on my patio and letting them burn. I can stand in the middle of all three, only a foot away, and be bitten to death by mosquitos. Even going so far as to bite me in the face! I have used both of them and the others are about 50 and 70% used. I will never consider purchasing these again.
I'm aware of it. There are no citronella candles or tiki torch oils that are more than two years old. This candle contains 3% citronella percentage of citronella percentage of c It appears to be quite effective. So I got some citronella essential oil that is 100% and when this candle was well warmed up I got some citronella essential oil that is 100% and when this candle was well% I sprayed it with more citronella oil. It appears to have gotten a boost!.
I stopped using these and switched to a different brand a few years ago because I suspected they contained harmful chemicals. I gave in and bought these after the other ones proved to be so ineffective. They contain enough citronella to be effective and potent. I was also relieved to discover that citronella was the sole active ingredient. There are no chemicals or repellents that aren't natural. They also appear to burn more slowly than similar candles. The label comes off easily (be patient and pull slowly), and the buckets are attractive and high-quality for those who care! Another advantage is that they are watertight when the lid is replaced, allowing them to be left outside in the summer.

I'd give it three stars if it was just a candle with a scent that might deter mosquitos while also serving another purpose, such as indoor use. Its sole purpose, however, is to keep mosquitos and other flying insects away, which it fails to do. (Or, at the very least, not for me. ) ) I live far away from any wetlands, marshes, or ditches. I'm surrounded on all sides by houses, but my backyard seems to be overrun with gnats, mosquitos, "no see'ems," and other insects; after 6 p. m. , it's either inside or bug spray, so I set this candle on the table outside and sat next to it. It didn't work right away, but I'm guessing it takes some time to spread the scent. However, after 40 minutes of continuous burning, mosquitos were biting me literally a foot away from the candle. And there were always gnats. Although many reviews claim that this product worked for them, I doubt they had a mosquito problem. Or I'm infested with super-mosquitoes.
I used a lot of galvanized metal decor because it was a rustic theme. I placed one on each table and it didn't look too cheesy (the centerpieces were flowers in a wooden planter and mercury votive candle holders). My backyard had been fairly bug-infested at night for the previous few weeks, but I didn't see any mosquitoes that night! br>br>These are approximately 4" or 5" tall with one wick. I lit them for about 6 hours. I've been awake for eight hours and believe that each of us has at least six hours left.
Of all the brands I've tried, this one has worked the best on my 16x14 patio. My only gripe is the wick's length. Unless you cut the wick before lighting it each night, it will burn through your wax and produce excessive smoke. Mine lasted three times as long doing this, and it smelled clean and didn't emit any smoke.
This year in Texas, the mosquitoes have been HORRIBLE, so I needed something that would work outside. Because of the chemicals, I despise using sprays on myself. These were extremely effective. To make them work, we had to light them all around our patio, but they did a fantastic job. We used all six of them at the same time every day for about three months and have enough left over to use again next summer. They burn evenly and perfectly, and the bucket handle is useful for hanging them from things to prevent them from being knocked over. The lid is great because it keeps rain and bugs out while also allowing you to store it outside for later use. When we run out, I'll be purchasing more.
