Those in the know will recognise that this is the real deal in the form of America's finest warriors.
Approximately 3 pounds.
This is not a magical shovel steel does rust faster when exposed to salt. Would rinsing the corrosion off with fresh water help lower corrosion levels? I believe so. Water doesn't even need to be magical
My guess is that if I can dig a foxhole with this shovel, it would be up to the task of metal detecting.
Selected User Reviews For US GI Military Original Issue E-Tool Entrenching Shovel
This product did not operate as advertised and did not have the weight described. It is obvious that these sellers are trying to fool people who do not know how to identify a real GI military shovel.
Observe that a Chinese fake of this product has the name "FRUITEAM" etched into the shaft of the handle. The saw blades and shovels have rounded and dull edges. An aluminous silver washer between the lock nut and the hinge rattles and does not maintain its tightness for long can be considered a sign of failure. It is much cheaper to buy these shovels from this brand than what the seller is charging for the Aames brand or any other contractor brand. I would return it, but I want to see how well it holds up to actual My gardening project calls for some new materials, and if it holds up, it might be useful in the flower beds.
I do not believe it is a USGI shovel. "Fruiteam" is written on the label of the pouch, which I got in a flimsy nylon bag. False advertising isn't okay. It feels as if you've been scammed.
Please use caution On June 6, the world turned The 17-year-old Authentic item was received as a fake. According to its advertisement, it is an "US GI Military Original Issue E-" shovel The "Tool Entrenching shovel" arrived in a low grade This cheap nylon sack (not shown in the ad) is labeled as TEKTON 3. A FOLDING SHOVEL WITH A WAY. The product is made in China by Michigan Industrial Tools in Grand Rapids, Michigan The Mit- As an instrument. Please visit www. com. The handle of this FAKE and FAUX shovel is made of steel (magnet test failed). Paint in a glossy green color. Decorative paint applied over dull stamped serrations or saw's It is advertised that it is made of aluminum. This black powder coat finish is durable and attractive The edges of the blades have been sharpened. Additionally, this FAKE and FAUX shovel conveniently folds up sloppy and in the wrong direction Securing the shovel to the blade is a generic bolt and washer that are unpainted.
A cheap copy of the picture is displayed on the right. I believe it is misleading as the As you can see in the 3rd image, the rivet on the original is sharp, the nut and bolt on the cheap copy is not. The cutting /chopping edges on the original are sharp, rounded over on the cheaper copy. However, you can tighten the knob on the copy and it is still find it extremely disappointing and impolite for Amazon to allow this to happen since it is allowing 3rd party vendors to sell this crap without verifying its.
As yet, I haven't provided it with the full test of the elements to determine how well it will hold those positions, but I have hung from a tree in grappling mode and sat on it in 90 degree positions and it held up well, so I remain optimistic. In comparison with Gerber E-Z &R, serrated edges seem like a rip off I have not tested it thoroughly yet, but I am confident it is a useful tool. All the parts of the tool are made from strong steel and aluminium with the exception of the locking screw, which is made of a tough nylon/plastic compound. It's not only a tool, but you have the feeling that it will last for a very long time, no matter what you throw at it (even The shovel head is angled at 90 degrees for a very comfortable grip one can use both hands at the end or on either side of the loop (Either side of the loop when shovel head is in the straight position). The metal square at the bottom of the handle has a few sharp corners, and I agree with other reviews that it would probably be abrasive to the hand holding it in the middle. Taking care of this involves nothing more complicated than using a bench grinder. There is no Gerber e-mail address on the Gerber web site The plastic sleeve locking mechanism was placed at the base of the handle, instead of the other end at the shovel head base, thus solving that sharp corner issue. In addition to a metal bracket, the shovel head is attached to the handle using 3 metal rivets (the object feels and looks very strong, as there is Using the Gerber E-ZPass I know there are four welding spots on the shovel head, but I'm not certain which is strongest. I bought For it, I made a shovel cover, and it fit perfectly, although very snugly. My overall impression is that I like it better than the Gerber E-Flux Because it has an all steel / aluminum handle construction and multiple locking positions, this tool is suitable for a wide range of applications.
All others are modeled after it, but they can never measure up to it. As opposed to its imitations, this knife is made from highly durable steel, so you can use it for years of consistent abuse with little to no maintenance. It can be hell to dig through rocks, roots, mud, fine sand, coarse sand, clay, shale, or even that nasty stuff called gumbo in the South East and to drop approximately 120 feet from a cliff to the ground below. The company is still going strong after all these years. While you may complain about the weight (it's only a few pounds, and I'm not sure why you would bring an entrenching tool on lighter backpacking trips), it's exactly the feeling of quality that you get when you use this tool. People will complain that it's not tacticool enough, but I can speak from experience, when your 200 pound dog turns into a I found that when you find yourself with an Axe Hammer Spear Survival Grenade Breaks trying to dig a hole in hard packed snow, you will have to go to someone with the simple, high-quality entrenching tool that I have for assistance.
It appears that some reviews assert that this is not mil spec, but in reality Light House for the Blind was contracted by the government to produce these, so they do have an NSN and they are accurate. However, it is possible that there is a better alternative. Given the price and the fact that it only takes a few minutes to sharpen, I believe to get the greatest value for the money. This is a pretty solid product and it is possible to adjust it to 45° and 90°. Some reviewers never bothered to get their hands dirty.
