This sturdy shovel folds up into a very small package. There was no bending at all when I used it on hard dirt. It will take time to see whether it stands the test of time. This item came with a nice little carrying case, but no instructions, so if you're giving it as a gift, make sure to print out a few of the photos that describe how the locking mechanism works.
