The hiker in my family is only five. I bought these for him. It is not unusual for us to do six-hour days He needed a sturdy pair of boots with a lot of traction since he hiked 10 miles each day. I'm a bit amazed that his feet aren't bothered by these boots. The bottoms are so thin and flat that I wonder how he can wear them without feeling any discomfort. Despite steep scrambles and rocky terrain, they manage to stick to them well. Warmth is brought to his feet by these socks. To ensure he always has a pair of shoes in case the first pair he wears is too thin, I always carry an extra pair of shoes. While they have been on many long hikes with him, he hasn't complained on any counts.

This shoe is comfortable for running, which is what my son says about these shoes. One issue is that the product is not water resistant. Water is definitely prevented by the rubber bottom half of the shoes. However, after running through wet grass, water seeped through the top half of the shoes, resulting in damp feet.
