It differs from other pressure cookers in that it locks down. The steam rises and quickly cooks a large amount of food. We cook our entire dinners in one pot when we go camping. A cajun crab boil with red potatoes and corn on the cob is one of our favorite dishes.
No, but you'll want it; I ordered one and didn't receive it; I had to order another one later.
We've always put it on a grate and it's worked great every time--directly in the coals might be a little too hot.
16 quarts can be cooked in this CanCooker.

When we first saw this at a friend's house, we knew we had to have it. The initial application was excellent, as we had expected. As a shrimp boil, we used it. When I went to use it for the second time, the entire bottom began to melt after only a few minutes of steaming, leaving gaping holes and ruining the entire batch. If this has happened before, please let me know. Because of this, I will never buy this product again. A very costly shambles.
I thought I was getting a new product, but when I got it, it looked used, didn't sit flat, and had a big dent in the side, among other things, which leads me to believe it was a returned product, which I didn't want. It wasn't in a product box, just a brown outer shipping box. Very let down.
It was only a week ago that we tried it out for the first time. We started working on it as soon as we got it. We steamed fresh caught Dungeness Crab three nights in a row with it. We filled it to the brim and slammed the lid shut. This was the simplest and cleanest method of cooking crab we've ever used. Everyone at fish camp had already begun looking for them in order to place an order. We are extremely pleased with the product and the results we obtained when compared to our regular pots, which either boil over or leak steam from the lid's edge.
I loved it so much that I'm planning on giving it as a gift for Christmas. I prepared the sausage according to the basic sausage recipe that came with the instructions. I added prawns in the last ten minutes and served a beautifully prepared meal in under 15 minutes. The heating instructions were a little scary at first, but watching the steam vent and turning the heat up or down accordingly worked perfectly. My husband did purchase a single propane burner to go with it, which I am grateful for. We were able to set it up on the deck and monitor the cooking process through the window. I figured we could use it on the bar b q if the weather was nicer, but it was perfect for this. This summer, I'm going to give it a go over a campfire. This is an excellent tool for feeding large groups quickly and easily. In about 45 minutes, you can go from kitchen to plate. br>I only had one complaint, and it has made no difference to my opinion of the cooker. It arrived with a dent on the bottom edge. Because it was only wrapped in bubble wrap and not packed in too tightly, it most likely happened during shipping. I didn't notice it until the day of the event, when I needed to use it, and I decided not to be concerned. However, I had to pound the bottom flat because the dent caused the metal to buckle, preventing it from standing flat on its bottom. Please look at the photos. My only recommendation is that you inspect it thoroughly when it arrives, just in case. This had no effect on how much I enjoyed the meal or how simple it was to prepare. Love it!.
I like the cooker, but the case design is ridiculous. It's not going to work! It'll be difficult to keep it safe if you can't take it camping with you!.
After seeing a friend wearing it, I decided to buy one for myself. It's ideal for crab boils.
I should have purchased it earlier. What's not to like about a turkey cooker that is quick and easy to prepare on the stove or over an open fire? Deer Meat for Dinner was the first place I saw this. Boil in the Low Country It's fantastic. Simple to work with. Don't overthink it when it comes to cooking. It's very simple. For the bottom, I purchased a riser. Steaming vegetables, pot roast, and seafood is a breeze with this method.
It was purchased as a gift for my father and it works perfectly for crab legs.
