If more than one person will be using the pack, the mouth pieces can be swapped out. If needed, the pack can also be connected to a gas mask.
This allows you to connect the "Type M" adapter to your military pro mask, allowing you to drink from it. Other masks have a variety of adapters. Both parts are required.
Sawyer offers a quick connect kit that allows you to connect your filter's output (male) section to the drinking tube's female section. If you just get the sawyer kit, you can cut the tube in half and put the male and female quick-connects in. You don't need this to join sections.
No, you don't need to cut a hole; all you have to do is bite a little to let the water in.

When it is disconnected, it does not turn off the water supply.
2. The bite valve, as other reviewers have stated, was not pre-installed. cut.
3. Because the female connection is 1/2" deeper than other QuickConnects, it will not work with other brands of QuickConnects, including camelbaks. br>br>I was hoping to use this in conjunction with a water filter for backcountry hiking, so 3 was a huge letdown. 1 isn't a big deal because there's an on/off switch, and I was able to fix problem 2 by cutting the bite valve. br>br>The main issue I have with this is that it was designed for military use with a gas mask, which it probably does just fine.
Buyer beware, don't purchase these liquidation bite valves! I bought one about a month ago that didn't have a slit. I tried to cut my own with care, but it didn't work out. So, I figured I'd give it another shot and order two more, thinking my first one was a genuine defective part. Nope, all of these appear to be defective, so I'm returning them and hoping Amazon takes them off the market because none of them are usable.
This purchase has made me very unhappy. Once mated, the pieces are indestructible. Also, the product I received is not the same as the one shown in the picture. The "release buttons" are made up of two very small pieces on either side that must be pressed together in order to release (I guess. There are no clear instructions included, and there is only one button on one side, as shown in the image. Regardless, pressing the buttons is nearly impossible, so the two pieces are now permanently linked. As a detachable mouthpiece, this is completely useless. It is strongly advised that you do not purchase this.
I bought this to replace the fiddly pull-on/pull-off valve on my hydration bladder (not a Camelback). This slipped right into the tubing without a hitch. Simply measure your line's inner diameter to ensure it is 1/4 inch and it will fit. br>I prefer this valve because the one-handed operation of the flip On/Off is more convenient. It also has a large bite valve, which is a plus. Per pull, a little more water. The valves on camelbacks are well-cut and open easily when bitten, and I haven't had any issues with leakage. This is also aided by the On/Off switch. br>I paired it with a 90890 bite valve with cover (my original didn't have one and was prone to being covered in everything). This kit includes a plastic flip-style On/Off switch and a plastic clip that allows the bite valve to be easily removed for any reason. Camelback's new hydro lock valves are simple to install. br>It's a great upgrade for my generic bladder because it's so inexpensive.
That is not the case! The only way to open the slit that I can think of is to cut it open with a knife, which I'm sure would ruin any seal. The next issue is that attempting to quickly release the valve is extremely difficult and results in the O ring coming off. Again, I'm assuming that this will keep anything from sealing. Now comes the most annoying part: I had to cut the old valve off my hose to get this one on, resulting in a shorter hose with excess hose insulation bunched up, sloppy looking, and in the way. Not only did I have to do this to get this valve turned on, but if I get a new valve, I'll have to do it all over again, leaving it even shorter and with even more insulation. If I can find one, I'll probably just buy a new hose with valves built in. Actually, I lied; the most aggravating aspect is that, from what I can tell, there is no way to contact the seller and try to reach an agreement. The only options are to return the item for a refund or to replace it. Both options will require me to drive 20 minutes one way to the nearest UPS store and likely spend an additional $2 to $3 on a package to return this.
This is a must-do conversion if you have a Camelbak in the Big Bite style. Leaks and spills have become an all-too-common occurrence since my son began drinking from our water pouches. This kit enables me to turn on or off the water flow, preventing a disaster.
And. Let's face it, there have been a few times when I've crammed the tip into my backpack too tightly, and it wasn't because of a toddler. Later, when I opened the bag, I discovered my water all over the place except in the pouch. This hasn't happened since the kit was installed. br>A replacement silicone mouthpiece was the same price as the kit when I purchased it, so why not upgrade? It's simple to put together and doesn't require any special tools. br>One thing to keep in mind is that the button can be stiff the first dozen times you use it. However, after some use, it has become very affordable for someone with strong hands. My wife still asks me to assist her in getting hers off to be cleaned every now and then. Last but not least, and most importantly, DO NOT CUT THE OPENING IF YOU USE THE PROVIDED MOUTHPLATE AND HAVE NEVER REPLACED ONE OF THE BIG BITE STYLES, WORK IT BACK AND FORTH UNTIL IT OPENES ON ITS OWN. I didn't read the manual and ruined my first one by slicing it open with a razor blade. My next one went smoothly because I followed the instructions; all you have to do is be patient and do what it says. br>Have a good time with it.
I have two camelbacks with bite valves similar to these, and they're great for connecting to my water filter quickly. My wife purchased a different brand of pack and lost her bite valve, so I purchased one for her. It did not function properly. Regardless of how hard we pressed the buttons, it would not disconnect. I contacted Camelbak and received such excellent customer service that I am willing to give the product four stars. Things are rarely perfect in life, but what matters to me is how quickly this company sent me a replacement that works flawlessly. Thank you so much, camelbak. Excellent service to customers.
The shut-off valve on the mouthpiece was the main reason I purchased this. It's also nice to be able to remove the mouthpiece and squeeze the bag uniformly instead of going through the mouthpiece to spray water. I use it to provide water to my dog and to clean up after him. br>br>Likewise, unlike some others, my mouthpiece was not cut. That was simple to cut with a razorblade knife.
