Sorry, I only used it for one rap and returned it because it did not provide the friction that a 215 pound guy with a 40 pound pack required.br>a lot of canyoneers make the rap rope the exact length of the rap and rap off at the end (for water safety) and because the twists mostly come out.br>I returned it because it did not provide the friction that a 215 pound guy with a 40 pound pack required.

For a long time, I've wished for something similar! All of the popular belay devices (ATC, Figure-8) have recently arrived in Kong's possession. 8, Descenders, GriGri, and so on), discarded all disadvantages, compiled all advantages of each device into a single list, and then placed them in the Hydrobot. INSANE! If you've spent a lot of time working in the mountains, you're well aware of the drawbacks. Some coil the rope, while others are simply unfit for serious work (ATC - (I'm addressing you specifically. ) Some are overly complicated in order to provide you with what you're looking for. Essentially, it's an upgraded ATC. Anyone up for some GriGri? You can't stop rapelling and go hands-free in most places. free. Those who do (Petzl Piranha is my favorite, by the way. ) It coils the rope), has a detach/attach moment, is too bulky (rescue descenders, for example), or can't handle double ropes. In addition, I've seen stressed-out minds and hands do stupid things. Things that are extremely stupid. Like . What happened to your other crampon dude? Oh . I was under the impression that I had put it on. Simplicity = live to tell the story in these moments. So . Now that I've received my Kong - Made in Italy, it's a work of art. br>br>On YouTube, I only found one video in a language I couldn't understand. whatever is the case I was just curious to see if my suspicions about the device's capabilities were correct. I switched tabs and purchased it halfway through the video.
For a long time, I've been canyoneering and rappelling with the atc/ kong gigi/ figure 8/ kong oka systems. Nothing compares to the hydrobot in terms of adjustability and ease of use. As others have stated, I am not aware of my weight. br>br>You can set it to go super fast like a SWAT team member in a movie or set it to not move unless you add slack from the brake hand. br>br>I've tried it in water, sand, and dry desert. It provides the viability that I require as a user. br>br>Can be done with one or two ropes as well. It doesn't make a difference. br>br>I've never done a rappel over 100 feet with an 8mm rope. br>br>I usually go with a number nine. This device works with 4mm rope. br>br>In the future, I'll probably buy a couple more in case it's discontinued. This device has a special place in my heart.
Fast and elegant solution for dual strand rappels, especially water rappels (hence the Hyrdo in its name). If you try this in a freezing pothole, you'll see why this device is so special - It is always with me when I enter a canyon. It also works on single line, but it's not as easy to add friction as a Piranha or an ATS, so I wouldn't recommend it for single strand free hangs, especially on 8mm rope.
I really like how this device works. I like that I don't have to fiddle with a locking carabiner, and adding friction is simple. My only gripe is that it weighs three times as much as a Piranha. There appear to be numerous extra aluminum pieces that could be removed in a future model. Because of the weight, this will not be my primary device; however, because it is simple to load and operate, it will be my loaner device for guests who are less experienced.
The best friction device of all time! There aren't enough positive things to say about this product.
While canyoneering, the system is simple to use and connect and disconnect. My friend, who always has the most up-to-date gadgets, was very interested in my new "easy to use device. ".
In Zion National Park, I used it to hike through three canyons. It takes a little longer to set up than an ATC or Figure 8, but it's well worth the investment.
