Use the cable lock only if you have to.
Taking the cable locks off is not necessary because I will not use them.
Our skis aren't fat, but we think the straps will keep them from fitting unless you get them bigger
Why don't you explain your question to me? The ski-plane trip was a success Jeep Wrangler 4 door hiker is compatible with this vehicle. There are only a few window hooks that are allowed on front door windows. My new little car (Fiat 500) didn't have a roof rack when I bought it last fall. As a result, I purchased the Ski Hiker 2 and it was a great purchase. It is a very good value for the money. As you can see, although burly, the straps were quite tight around my Rossi Evo skis (also burly), and as a result, I decided to mount the skis separately and the poles together. Also, because I felt like my skis vibrated about every 20 seconds or so (when I was riding up Route 90) and the poles are too loose, I added a couple bicycle straps (binary toe straps) to skis and poles. I plowed a snow bank in Vermont and neither thing flew off. The story behind that is a completely different one. In summary, if you don't have a roof rack, I recommend Ski Hiker.
The last one of these I had was years ago, but I couldn't remember where I kept it. Another pair is on order for the new car that I failed to have it fitted with the roof rack in time for a vacation. I used these in a pinch and they were great.
