I packed it with four electric bikes, yes, four electric bikes, and you know how heavy ebikes are. Swinging out a fully loaded vehicle is difficult, but it can be done, making trunk access a breeze. I'm driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey with it. br>br>With that much weight, I wish Kuat had included a MUCH longer lock lever. Unless it was empty, there's no way my wife could operate this machine. Kuat, you need to load it up, do more testing, and make it easier to operate for people who weigh 90 pounds. In today's world, having four ebikes isn't unusual. Regardless, I'm glad I chose this model over the others because it appears to be the most beefy of the bunch.
When I'm going out for a ride, I can open the back door of my Jeep Unlimited and store my bike and a cooler. When you're out and about, it's also simple to load groceries. I tried another brand, but it wouldn't fit through my Jeep's receiver with a hitch bolt. When I'm out on the town, I'm as confident as I can be that no one will steal my rack. I'd buy it again if the opportunity arose.
The quality of the fit and finish is satisfactory. The addition is longer than expected, but it is functional. I was unsure about the passenger-side opening, but as you can see, it works perfectly with my 2020 JL's tailgate and factory spare. With an oversized spare, I'm not sure it'll work. Take a look at the clearance photo. It's exactly what I was looking for and completes the rack.
This thing is big and badass, and it'll be a great addition to my Overlander. It comfortably accommodates my spare 4 gallon waterport as well as my propane supply. There are no problems.
This is an excellent scooter rack that is simple to put together and looks great. Even though I'm over the weight limit, the door still swings open and I can get to the back. While driving, it jiggles a little but not too much, and I've taken the van on some rough dirt roads. I would definitely recommend this product!.
We can finally open the back doors of our class B RV without having to remove our heavy electric bikes or the bike rack. It looks great on the Kuat bike rack and performs admirably. This rack was not available when I first looked for it on Amazon in May. We were going on a trip and needed it, so I decided to order it from etrailer. The expected wait time was six weeks. They kept putting off the delivery. Finally, etrailer informed me that my shipment would arrive in November. Instead of six weeks, it would take six months. I went back to Amazon and discovered that one was still available. It was delivered within a few days after I placed my order. So that's the end of etrailer. Kuat is made in China, which is a shame. Nonetheless, it is of high quality.
It was easy to use, and the quality was satisfactory.
The hitch tightening bolt sheared during removal after only being used once. I guess I overtightened (instructions say no more than 25 ft lbs), but the tool that came with it was a long-handled hex key, not a torque wrench. The tightening mechanism should be replaced with a hand twist knob rather than the allen key levering, which appears to be very easy to overtighten with disastrous results. br>br>Until it broke, the product was fine.
