Questions & Answers

My car is a small compact. A ford Countour is a type of ford that can be found in the United States Will this rack accommodate two 12' boards?

It should work if it's a four-door vehicle; however, the securing straps must be secured through the doors. I have a four-door Ford Escape in which I transport my nine-year-old son. On a 5' x 5' board If you'd like, I can send you a photo via email.

Do you have all of these? (2) 24"x4" prints Blocks of 75" foam; (2) 22" x 4 " Pads with a 75-inch spacing; Straps with two 9' Cinch Buckle Blocks; (1) 15' Cam Buckle Load Strap; (2) 15' Cam Buckle Load Straps; (2) 15' Cam Buckle Loa (1) Are you talking about the manual?

Yes. Everything we needed to attach two boards to our vehicle was included in the kit. It functions admirably.

Is this compatible with an Audi A6 wagon?

I'm not sure what an Audi wagon A6 looks like, but it works fine on my wife's Nissan Altima; just don't overtighten them. It's possible that a small dent will occur. I've never experienced it, but I've been warned.

Is it true that the buckle load straps will fit any vehicle? Thank you for your interest in my chevy traverse with original racks. ?

They have no reason not to, in my opinion. I have had no problems driving a 2003 Sequoia with the original racks. I don't think they'll be able to fit a vehicle.

This isn't a wise decision
3/5

If you're looking for something to use on a beater or rental car, this is the place to go. Then this is a cost-effective option. However, it is in no way suitable for daily use. Alternatively, you could use it on your personal vehicle. br>br>In conclusion-- Putting it on and taking it off is a chore. However, in order to secure the board, you must ratchet down the straps fairly tightly, which can result in compression dents on your roof from the foam blocks. depending on the mode of transport As for me, That is exactly what took place. It will also cause some wear and tear on the interior fabric and weather stripping. To be more specific- I wasn't cinching the straps too much- only enough to keep it safe during transportation-- and by the time I used it twice, this had happened. br>br>I'm very disappointed with this- Now I'm dealing with a compressed/dented roof, which is an unfortunate problem. Beware.

They are efficient and effective
4/5

It works great as long as the foam cross pieces are placed near the windshield and rear window, where there is extra support; the middle may dent your roof. The first time you set it up, it was a little difficult and time consuming. One of the slide clips made of plastic had torn. All I had to do was tie the strap. It had the desired effect. To avoid a whistle or flap of straps, you should twist the straps a couple of times before securing them. Both locally and on a 300-mile round-trip across the state at high speeds. The boards don't move at all! Let's see how long they last; so far, they've been great!.

Your buttocks sound like they're being ridden by a very loud motorcycle
3/5

This is something I'll have to return. When I drive over 40 MPH in my Kia Sorento with this on top of my SUV, it is INCREDIBLY loud. The whole way to your destination, it sounds like a very loud motorcycle is riding your butt. It's frighteningly loud. On the way back from the beach - I didn't wear it because I didn't think it was necessary. I was much quieter because I only used my straps. There was some noise, but not as much as when I was wearing it.

Our two long boards fit in perfectly
5/5

Our two long boards fit in perfectly. Could we have rigged something similar with our own equipment, as Jimmy suggested? Sure, but it would have been about the same price. This was, in any case, easier for my non-do-it-yourself husband. It keeps the boards in place and protects them; we like it a lot and have already recommended it to someone.

The foam dividers are the only thing that annoys me
5/5

We needed a way to get our SUP from one place to another. This was purchased and arrived the day before our departure. I strapped the SUP to my back and drove the 4 hours there and back with no problems. The foam dividers are the only thing that annoys me. It's a little difficult to get them on the rack, but you'll get used to it. The SUP is very secure once it's on and strapped down.

Adaptable and safe Surfboards and SUPs are securely held on a variety of vehicles with these racks
5/5

I've put them on the roofs of a Toyota Corolla, a Dodge Charger, and a Ford Focus to transport longboards and SUPs for hour-long trips. br>br>Their convenience makes them worth packing for travel. br>br>Long trips to the beach are no problem. br>br> I packed their belongings into a duffel bag and flew them to Maui for a week of surfing and SUPing. They were incredibly simple to put on and take off multiple times throughout the day, and they work with almost any rental car. br>br>As others have suggested, twist the straps a few times before tightening them, then stow the loose strap ends in the car, and the racks will quietly transport the boards wherever they need to go. br>br>Also, as other reviewers have pointed out, you must be careful not to overtighten the straps in order to avoid denting car roofs. To avoid denting, space the blocks far apart so that they rest on solid roof sections (i. e. , the front block close to the windshield, and the back block close to the back window). The green-colored hold- The boards will stay in place without causing roof dents if down straps are tightened between the blocks.

Only use it as a last resort
3/5

It gets the job done, but it's a little pricey for what it is. I tried it out on a bare-bones vehicle a couple of times and quickly learned the following:
- This method is extremely inconvenient and inconvenient to use, and it is simply not practical for frequent use. Especially if you're shorter or weaker, and getting the board into position is difficult enough - It's even more difficult if you're attempting to avoid knocking the blocks too far off the board. (I'm a woman of average height, with a sedan of average height, a pretty average board, and good upper-body strength - I found it to be quite difficult. )
- The foam began to tear around the openings at the ends very quickly. They should add something to reinforce it there for the price they are charging.
- The car's straps are a pain to deal with.
- I hadn't considered it before buying, but after reading about the possibility of the straps interfering with side airbags, I realized it would be the case on my vehicle.
- As others have mentioned, you must be careful when placing the blocks so as not to dent the roof. (Despite my reading about it and informing my husband, he promptly misplaced the blocks, slammed the thing down, and dented my roof. ) Fortunately, he reappeared. )
- If your roof has a lot of curves, place the blocks closer to the front and back (where they're less likely to dent the roof and provide a wider base for the board), the blocks will be at an angle and make less contact with the board. I chose to glue strips of rubber padding to the bottom of the blocks to keep the top surfaces flat. It works better, but it's unsightly, hides the unique bottom surface, and most likely voids some warranty.
- To avoid terrible wind noise (which makes it even more tedious to use), I had to pay close attention to twisting the straps in all the right places. ) It took a few tries and test drivers to figure out how to do this correctly. br>br>I chose this because I thought it would be adequate, and I couldn't find a suitable roof rack for my vehicle at the time. After trying this, I looked harder and found a type of rack that would fit my car (that didn't also use things like straps through the car or suction cups). It's now 20 times faster and easier for me to load the board on the car and tie it down, so I'll be doing it a lot more. Since I have them, I'm still using the foam blocks on the rack, but if I didn't, I'd invest in some more streamlined pads. I'm still using the load straps that came with the set, but they're a little long for tying directly to a rack, so I may replace them with some shorter ones I have on hand. Bottom line, I figure this is fine for very occasional use, or maybe to take somewhere and use on another vehicle like a rental, or if you have no other choice, but it was a waste of money for me.
