There are a lot of conflicting opinions about this set. I finally decided to buy this set because of the lower price; I enjoy playing, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. For me, this fulfills the majority of my criteria. In terms of the net, the set is somewhat flimsy. But it'll suffice for some backyard fun. The neon yellow color of the net and the travel bag for keeping all of the racquets together appeals to me. It was a simple process to get everything set up. For the stakes, we used a rubber mallet, and it took us about 15 minutes to get it up and running. Because I've only had it for a day, I can't say how long the set will last. The shuttlecocks are a complete waste of time. However, this was not a deal-breaker for me. For less than $10, I bought a six-pack of light-up neon colored ones from Amazon. If it lasts for a summer, I'll be happy. I've included some images to assist you in making your decision.
I was aware that I would be purchasing a low-cost set and had low expectations. It didn't live up to my low expectations, to be honest. My hands felt roughed up after 10 minutes of playing with the racquets, which have plastic handles. The net poles are made up of three sections. It doesn't say how far down the first pole should be pushed into the ground, so I pushed it down about 6 inches and messed up the bottom of the pole. I was able to put up the net and play a few games after that. Because it easily breaks, this set is more of a one-time use set. I scraped it all apart from the net and made my own poles out of PVC pipe using these instructions: The pvc poles cost around $11 in total, plus about an hour of labor.
" Not in the case of badminton sets, at least. I reasoned that spending a little more money would result in a superior set. The set I bought was labeled 'Advanced,' and it was the third best of four options. Perhaps I was expecting too much in return for my money. However, there is nothing in this set that is particularly long-lasting. The 'birdies' are described as being of grade A quality, which they aren't. The lock buttons, like the PVC poles, are flimsy as well. The net is heat bonded to a plastic-wrapped end support (which I despise). The wrap is made of thin (trash-bag-like) plastic that will never hold up to stretching or prolonged exposure to sunlight. Because the PVC end piece is not connected to the actual net, the plastic wrap bears the brunt of the load. The stakes that come with the net are very short and do not hold in the soil as well as they should. Overall, it appears to be a good set to knock down. but only for a short period of time.
Because the stake hooks were too flimsy to connect to the stake, I had to connect the stakes to the metal hook that was supposed to hold the net. The poles are also made of plastic and bend when used to hold the net in place. When I attempted to set up the net, one of the stakes immediately broke. The instructions are unclear and only include a scribbled illustration. The scoring rings were also missing from my set; they had been left out for some reason. My bag had a hole in it when it arrived, and the poles had already been scratched. The net is also difficult to set up, especially since the plastic hooks aren't strong enough to keep the net in place. With two people, putting the net together is difficult, and it took over 20 minutes because the stakes' plastic hooks kept coming unscrewed. This product is very cheaply made and not worth the money I paid for it. I'm thinking about returning it because I'm sure the plastic hooks will break very soon under normal use, rendering the net useless. BUY THIS ITEM AT YOUR OWN RISK! Investing in a better-made net that isn't entirely made of plastic isn't worth it.
Birdies are made for a very low price. After a few games, the sticker stripe began to peel away. The birdie's rubber feels like a cheap styrofoam layer glued to something else. That is also a form of separation. The paint on the rackets had worn off. The grip tape had come loose. Save your money and go shopping for a quality badminton set! This product had poor craftsmanship. The internet has proven to be adequate but not exceptional.
It is simple to put together; The poles are made up of three sturdy plastic connecting pieces. With a mallet, pound the bottom piece into the ground, then join the two remaining sections. The set includes 4 stakes and anchoring ties (2 for each pole), but I found the poles to be sturdy enough on their own, so I skipped the anchoring stakes and ties (which makes it easier to mow the grass around the net). The net isn't particularly sturdy, but it's adequate for badminton and has withstood a deer charging through it overnight. To prevent this from happening again, I unhook the net from one pole at night and clump it together on the other; The net is simple to put on and take off. Although the rackets have plastic handles, they are adequate for the price of the entire set.
In less than ten minutes, the shuttle cock had completely melted. One of the hair ties broke while I was putting it on. I bought this to replace my wife's 20-year-old basic set, but I should have repaired and kept the old one. The plastic posts don't appear to be very durable.
