It's fine with the glove. It's a tweener size, with a small hand opening but enough room for the majority of 14U girls. This was purchased in the middle of the year. We needed something cheaper and faster to break in for her JV high school season because her previous glove was even smaller. Overall, if you're looking for a bargain, I wouldn't recommend this glove. season, giving you plenty of time to break in a new glove. Spend the extra $100-$150 on a more appropriate adult glove for high school and beyond. Note that on the Amazon site, this item is listed as suitable for multiple levels of play, but when it arrived, it was only listed as suitable for recreational use. In the palm, there isn't much padding. This glove is also a rec level glove in my opinion.
It's ready to use right out of the box! My daughter put the glove on the first day, conditioned it, and used it at first practice before wrapping it in a ball for the night. She has extremely strong hands and was able to put the glove to immediate use. Because it's new leather, it's a little stiff, but a seasoned player will find it very usable. Out in left field, this is exactly what she requires. I expect her to use this high-quality glove for several years!.
Mizuno is an excellent company, and my daughter only wears Mizuno gloves. She's a catcher who alternates between infield and outfield when she's not catching. She has a Mizuno catcher's mitt and a Mizuno fielders glove, and we just ordered her a new one because hers is starting to have too much give. She uses her gloves on a daily basis, and I always recommend this product.
For the past 20 years or so, I've been using these gloves on my daughters. The glove is stiff right out of the box, but that is part of what makes it so tough. This glove will last your daughter through high school if purchased when she is 12 or 13.
My daughter had broken her glove, and we needed a solution quickly because we had a tournament in less than four days. You will not be dissatisfied with your purchase.
Breaking in is simple. This is an excellent glove.
This was a gift for my daughter, who is 12. It's a perfect fit for her hand, and it's a fantastic glove.
