Visually, they're identical to the ones I bought from a reputable sporting goods store before losing one of them. I've since noticed that, unlike the ones I bought at the store, these don't have a Franklin tag on the inside. The model number and the location of manufacture are both listed on the tag. That is not present in either of these gloves. The first photograph depicts a store purchase on the left and an Amazon order on the right. In addition, after a few swings in the mirror, the right glove in photo 2 shows separation. My rating as well as my expectations have been reduced. They're starting to look like knockoffs to me.
For the first week that I used them, they were ideal. They simply began to disintegrate after that. The threading first broke down, then the material began to rip and the leather began to show holes. I didn't wash or wet them because I wasn't using them heavily. I drove around with them for a few hours at work. I tossed them in my work bag and forgot about them by the end of the second week. I kept meaning to write a review but never got around to it, and I completely forgot how much I paid for these items! These were purchased to replace a pair that had been stolen after 8 years. There will be no more. These aren't as good as the $2 Walmart gloves, but they do the job and last longer. I'm not sure what happened to the pair I got, but they were far from satisfactory.
BEWARE OF THE RETAILER WHO MIGHT BE COMPLETING YOUR ORDER! My son was given a size that was too small for him. The Franklin batting gloves are awesome, but the order was fulfilled by ASAP Sports, who charges a restocking fee of 2015% and made me pay for return shipping. They also don't give you a phone number to call. Consumerism is still stuck in the Middle Ages. This is something I would expect from a retailer in a third-world country, not in the United States. day USA. Buyer beware, but they're the ones who should be embarrassed. This type of retailer should not be allowed to participate in Amazon's distribution network.
I've purchased a total of 6 pairs of these. These appear to have been tampered with during the manufacturing process. Some fit perfectly the first time they're worn, while others are excessively tight, or one fits perfectly and the other is excessively tight. Additionally, some have ripped apart at the seams (thumb or wrist) after being worn twice. Furthermore, the most recent two red varieties were sown in a very poor manner; Particularly around the thumb. There was more of the bottom leather, which is notorious for sticking out.
For children who hit on a regular basis, this is not the best option. They look and fit great, but after only one month, the entire palm of the glove had disintegrated. My two children both play baseball three times a week. I went out four nights a week and averaged around 200 pounds. 500 baseballs are hit off the tee or in live batting practice each week, and gloves are always left out in the open to dry. Instead, I went with Rawlings, which have held up better so far than these for the same price.
Let me begin with the good news. Fits true to size, is a nice clean white color, and has a good range of motion and flex. I intend to use them not only to go under my fielding glove (which will be the only one I have), but also to hit with. However, when I opened the package, I noticed that the right-handed batting glove (picture 3) showed significant signs of wear. The right thumb and pointer finger are black/brown, and the pinky and ring fingers, as well as the palm beneath those two fingers, have worn down traction. The left hand glove is in good condition and appears to be brand new, but the right hand glove is not.
These should last at least a year. The gloves are fantastic. These gloves last at least a season, whereas other gloves only last half of the season. To give you a sense of scale, I scored around 4-out-of-ten. For nearly a year, I worked 5 days a week. Also. When I'm on the bases, I remove them, which I believe gives the gloves a lot of life. I run the bases with my old gloves.
These gloves used to be great, but clearly quality control has gone out the window, as they tore the first time my son wore them for BP this winter. I was disappointed because these were my favorite gloves when I was younger and I had never paid this much for them.
