Does the sock/bag hold up well as I am looking for a bag for my chalk so that I don't have to fuss with all the mess?

There is no way to hold the chalk with this. In the end, it just squirted out of the bag and ended up all over. There is no tight weave in the material, so the chalk will leak out of the bag too fast. Therefore, you will end up having to double bag it or use your wife's stockings.

The chalk was good. Chalk is inside the ball and it's solid. The item needs to be smashed against the floor for 5 minutes before it can be used. I was able to get the chalk out of the sock after I removed it. This system lets out just enough chalk so that my hands are coated while not creating a mess.

It works, but you have to break it down yourself into powder. If not done correctly, this will probably result in a big mess. It works after that like any chalk that I have used in the past.

In terms of the chalk itself, it's pretty poor The chalk is difficult to use due to the size of the blocks

In terms of the chalk itself, it's pretty poor There is a block of chalk I purchase that sticks to the bar much better than this chalk. Whenever I deadlift, this stuff seems to powder up more and I see a huge pile of powder under the bar. This sock is great, but I wish there were better chalks on it.

It is not possible for chalk to penetrate very deeply through the material. The fact that isn't clear to me whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. Although it doesn't make a mess, when I need a lot of chalk on my hands, it is inadequate. Over time they might wear out and need to be replaced It seems to work fine.
